...in not pressing it with my finger?

I was in Hungerford earlier and parked in a car park. I went to the ticket machine and put my money in and was just about to press the big green waist height button when I noticed the writing above it. In urgent red letters was a sticker that read "FINGERS ONLY". I was going to use my finger. The thought of not using my finger hadn't crossed my mind until I read that note. I immediately thought "what the hell have other people been using to press that button?" and suddenly there was no way that I was going to use my finger to press it. I used a knuckle and tried not to think about it.

Was I unreasonable in refusing to use my finger to press a sign that said "FINGERS ONLY"?

The mind boggles.

Maybe people headbutt it.

FlopIsMyParentingGuru · 02/10/2015 17:13

I'd have used my elbow

BlueMoonRising · 02/10/2015 17:13

Sorry to disappoint you, but the knuckles are the joints of the finger bones - i.e. they make up part of the finger...

Use your elbow next time.

BlueMoonRising · 02/10/2015 17:14

Haha, cross post with flop!

Sighing · 02/10/2015 17:14

Use a pen in future. Or a stick.

LemonPied · 02/10/2015 17:15

I'd have used my tongue.
Not really.
Grim.

InMySpareTime · 02/10/2015 17:16

Don't use a pointed stick, use

TiggyD · 02/10/2015 17:20

I can't think of what else you could have used to push the button that was terrible enough to warrant a warning not to use it. My mind is still boggling.

Hmm, I wonder if people have been trying to use their car keys or similar to press it (to avoid germs) and damaged it.

Sorry, not as interesting as random naughty body parts!

catfordbetty · 02/10/2015 18:09

Does the Bullingdon Club use that car park?

iamaboveandBeyond · 02/10/2015 18:26

I wonder just how many penises poked it before they felt the need to put a sign up.......?

Iwanttobeadog · 02/10/2015 18:44

That's Hungerford for you

Idefix · 02/10/2015 18:59

Yak, I would of done with a tissue over my finger Blush, have vivid memories of pushing a green man button that someone had spat on as a child Shock

Idefix · 02/10/2015 19:01

Umm green man crossing! That would be pedestrian crossing Grin my inner child was trying to escape.

AndiYouGoonie · 02/10/2015 19:03

YANBU. If I see a sign that tells you to wash your hands in public toilets I DELIBERATELY DON'T. I won't be told what to do by a sign.

SquareStarfish · 02/10/2015 19:04

Car keys was my guess. Since they are in most people's hand at a car park anyway. Probably scratch and eventually break it.

The image of a man whipping his todger out to press a button does make me laugh though Grin

Lweji · 02/10/2015 19:07

I'd guess that people use the keys and damage the button.

Lweji · 02/10/2015 19:08

If I see a sign that tells you to wash your hands in public toilets I DELIBERATELY DON'T. I won't be told what to do by a sign.

So you're probably spreading fecal bacteria over your clothes, possibly face, children and various other places. Well don .

Archer26 · 02/10/2015 19:12

Sarcasm is lost on some clearly Andi.

Lweji · 02/10/2015 19:22

You may think it's sarcasm. I know lots of people don't wash their hands after coming out of the toilet.
When posting it's usually common courtesy to indicate you're joking. Because sarcasm doesn't show well in written form. Ou run the risk of people taking you at face value. Tough.

MummyPig24 · 02/10/2015 19:36

That's so weird. What have they been pressing the button with and how do the powers that be know? I will watch out next time I visit the Tutti Pole.

TiggyD · 02/10/2015 19:48

It was the car park next to the fire station. Check it out, and maybe poke the button with something interesting.
