An MRA scan on the NHS ?? Especially for a hip injury ??

(Sorry, I know IABU for asking here, but DDs hospital appointment is tomorrow & I need the traffic AIBU commands )

She's been stuck in a wheelchair in severe pain since April & I've just had her in floods of tears as in her words "I just don't see a way forward, the doctors aren't giving me a way forward, so how can I believe this will end"

I need to push for an MRA, but have hit a brick wall with doctors so far & I am wondering why, when it would potentially rule out 2 types possible injuries that would make sense as to why her hip just isn't getting better

Is this actually available on the NHS for an injury ??

Do you mean an MRI? They are available on the NHS but only if a doctor requests one (and waiting times can be enormous). A private one costs about £100 here - would that be an option?

Thank you, but No, she's had the MRI (& X-ray) an MRA has dye added to show finer detail & will show Mesenteric Pareasthetica which is nerve entrapment, it can finer cartilage damage too

All they say now is "soft tissue damage" probable trochenteric bursitis, but different doctors have said different things as far as bursitis goes & it doesn't really make sense anyway, as she can't weight bare at all without passing out or at least going faint with pain & we know she is very tough with pain.

Yes - DD2 had this and is just now waiting on an appointment for the results. She isn't as poorly as your daughter - she just has an unexplained pain in her hip joint. She is still walking etc

Thank you Olly ironically, when I try & google, I get Scottish results coming up, but no UK, in theory it should be rather same, but I'm getting the feeling its financial. If so, I just wish they would say so, at least that way we can make the decision to try & have it done privately, just feel fobbed off - they happily organise wheelchairs & home tutors, but trying to properly diagnose seems to be something they just brush away & as you can imagine is destroying her :(
