To be really cross about the plastic bag I found in my compost bin?

Today I found a plastic bag filled with a load of rotting food in my compost bin. I'm quite cross - I've had to fish it out, put it in the kitchen bin and then empty the kitchen bin (our bin men only take "proper" bin bags, carrier bags mean nothing gets taken).

My compost bin is tucked right in a corner, under a load of trees. It isn't visible even when you are in the garden. So whoever has put this in either already knows my garden or has had a really good root around for a bin.

AIBU?

I am a bit precious about what can and can't go in the compost bin.

I'm confused. Do you think it was a family member? Or a total stranger trespassed into your garden?

Nice!

Can you lock your garden?

CruCru · 15/09/2015 14:26

Not a family member. Either a total stranger or someone who's done some work to the house in the past (we had a lot of building work a couple of years ago).

Nope, can't lock the garden.

Here is a news flash - there are a lot of selfish people about.

Op if you can't get your garden locked up, you can buy bin locks or keep the bin in a place where it can't be got at.

It really annoys me when people go near my bins or recycle box. We have a shared driveway but the bins are next to my car and tucked over to one side.
I went out one day last week to get my green bin as I was going to cut the grass, I only cut my grass to be honest when I feel like it and so my bin is hardly ever used and I found a marrow and a bunch of beetroot in it!.
Now I imagine most people would think oh well does it matter it will just rot but I was raging because some fucker had been on my side of the drive way and used my bin. Everyone has their own sodding bins so why use mine?
I wrote a shitty note on it with a sharpie Blush
I found a bag of dog shit in my recycle box once too

we have that. makes me mad as it means the bin is then deemed 'contaminated' by council and will not be emptied. grrrrrrrrrrrr

People put stuff in our wheely bins too. The compost bin is a wooden thing with slats for me to make compost in (looks a bit like a beehive).
