Fridge raiders. Satan's own flesh?

My reception age son doesn't like sandwiches at lunchtime. All last year he had various kinds of sandwiches and all year he left them and was starving in the afternoon. So this year he's asked for chicken fridge raiders instead of sandwiches. So yesterday I put a couple of little packets in his lunchbox along with the usual fruit, drink, yoghurt etc, and he's been told that only sandwiches are allowed for packed lunches. Aibu to think that as long as a child is fed adequately, it's not really any of their business whether he has sandwiches or chicken pieces? (which is pretty much what the fridge raiders are)

I get the rage over stuff like this.
You should see how crap the free school lunches are... Cake everyday!

If you give them weak juice they go nuts!

Only sandwiches? Thats idiocy.
What about wraps, rolls, pasties, salads? After all -- lots of families pack dinner leftovers.

A sandwiches only policy is bonkers. It's like saying Digestive biscuits are allowed but Rich Tea are banned.

only sandwiches? Hmm

no wraps? rolls? scones? pasta salads? cold pizza?

what on earth is the reasoning behind this. what's wrong quiche or salads etc

Fridge raiders maybe not a good idea.
But anything from home... I'd kick up a big stink

My autistic son doesn't like sandwiches either. If I do him a packed lunch I normally cut up a tortilla wrap and then he'll have chicken kebabs or cooked cocktail sausages. Then a bag of twiglets and some fruit. As long as it's sort of healthy I don't see a problem.

I was going to suggest fridge raider sandwich, roll or wrap but Cliffdiver beat me to it ??

Reading these threads makes me so grateful for my dcs school, where they mind their own business and leave parenting to the actual parents!

Madness about the sandwiches - I have a dd who wont eat them either. I tend to give her sliced meat with chunks of cucumber instead.

'Chopped and shaped' is one kind of reconstituted, OP - assorted pieces of chicken meat bound together somehow with whatever 'glue' they use - like formed ham.
