to cook potato w's the toaster

For years I cooked potato w's in the toaster as I thought you were supposed to with the waffle setting. I always wondered why it took far far longer. Anyhow it still seems to kinda work and saves on washing up. This is fine right?

There are bags for toast, but they are a right hassel to clean up and don't get them as crispy.

How long does it take?

So you started with frozen potato waffles and progressed from there Grin Did you not read the cooking instructions and wonder why it only recommended grill or oven?

You do know the difference between a breakfast waffle and a birdseye potato waffle right? Confused

Ours caught fire once with oil dripping out of them. Worked great apart from that though. Grin

My dad tried to cook fish fingers in the toaster when I was a kid and my mum was in hospital. It's one of my less happy childhood memories.

Saves on washing up? Surely your talking one over tray/grill tray? And where do you think the 'grease' goes in the toaster?

IHaveBrilloHair · 09/09/2015 18:04

You can if you use toaster bags.

pookamoo · 09/09/2015 18:05

Yep always do them in the toaster since student days...
mmmm.... potato waffle sandwiches....

Yes you can but it takes ages and they taste funny because of dripping stuff smoking. 15 minutes in oven, much less faff than constant trips back to toaster to reset. Then, and this is very important, when they are golden and gorgeous you must drizzle liberally with golden syrup. And yes, I do mean Birds Eye type potato waffles. In fact ONLY Birds Eye potato waffles, all others are inferior. How do you like them apples?
