Tradition innit!

Can we ask why? Grin has one particular town crier pissed you off?

wasonthelist · 09/09/2015 17:32

Stupid and outdated tradition. I just heard one on the radio about the Queen - just a shouty bloke uttering platitudes - no need.

Off Topic but hasn't anyone thought the Queen might not be that thrilled to be reminded about the death of her Father...

I would rather ban bagpipes in shopping centres.
That is very wrong.

squoosh · 09/09/2015 17:36

I didn't know they still existed!

squoosh · 09/09/2015 17:37

Bagpipes are never acceptable. Hate the things.

MiddleAgeMiddleEngland · 09/09/2015 17:38

Our town has a town crier. With the most splendid outfit you can imagine. I love it when he's out ringing his handbell and crying (shouting) about whatever is going on. Quite often it's an event happening in town which would otherwise be missed.

It would be a shame to lose all our traditions and the town crier seems quite harmless.

I expect he'll be out soon as they're going to be ringing the church bells for the Queen. I do hope she's listening Grin

Oi, nothing wrong with well played bagpipes. Badly played bagpipes should be confiscated however.

paulapompom · 09/09/2015 17:41

My friends husband broke his ankle Morris dancing

wasonthelist · 09/09/2015 17:45

Actually Morris dancing would be next on my list......(of things I have irrational hatred of). I strongly suspect Morris Dancing is a bogus tradition though - like Ploughman's Lunch.

Squoosh - do you know the definition of a Scottish gentleman?

One who can play the bagpipes - but doesn't! Grin

squoosh · 09/09/2015 17:56

I fully agree with that STDG! Only dastardly scoundrels play those awful old bagpipes.

MyFavouriteClintonisGeorge · 09/09/2015 18:06

Actually, I like Morris dancing. The daftness of it is the point, really.
