and I am about to ban it and this will cause trouble. I also have a 7 yo who was playing with it. It is skate 3. It must be 16 for a reason.

I'll admit I don't know about this game. Generally I'm pretty much of the view that age ratings are there for a reason. Can you tell us what in the game you object to?

CassieBearRawr · 04/09/2015 21:20

It's 16 for the language and violence. It tells you on the back.

I am quite strict and monitor games quite l closely but I allow my 11yr old this - the odd 'crap' but I haven't heard any worse. Haven't seen any violence apart from son's rage when unable to do tricks.

abigamarone · 04/09/2015 21:24

It's a skateboarding game. The worst thing about it is that it shows a cartoonish visual of the broken bones when a player falls over. One of the most bizarre age ratings I've seen yet on an xbox game and perhaps one of the finest examples of why parents should take a more proactive approach in finding out what their kids play instead of automatically banning a game (I let my then 11 year old have it)

YANBU 16+ game for a 15 yo? Maybe. 16+ game for an 11yo? No chance. There are plenty of other games they can play.

Not even The Hall of Meat?! The splat and crunch sounds make me want to hurl Grin

Toooldforthat · 05/09/2015 06:13

Thanks everyone. I'll have a closer look. I might be able to allow it offline with the sound off as well. I'll pay more attention today.

JawannaDrink · 05/09/2015 06:56

The online options are nasty and def 16plus

krustofskypud · 05/09/2015 06:58

Derek my DBro is 14 but has been playing this sort of game since 11/12 also.

Most of the good games are 16 or 18+. I'm a gamer and I don't think they're that bad really. Blush

I think age ratings are often just plain weird. Not just games but films too. I saw Amy (rated 15) recently with my 14 year old old, and there is nothing in it that I would be unhappy for my 12 year old to see.

Much better to make your own judgement.
