To want to move?

Hi all,

I work in a tiny office, of 3/4 people and my 2 bosses have a separate side room. There are computers etc so rearrange the room/seating plan would be a hassle.

My issue is that there is only one toilet at the side, (behind a door of course lol), and I sit closest to it, like sideways to the front.

Daily work is beginning to really get me down because each day I'm victim to a horrid stench from whoever has used the bathroom previously. I don't know what to do Confused

Even if someone DOES spray, it still has that horrid in fresh, musky stench to it. I feel bloody sick.

What can I do? Am I overreacting? Please someone suggest if I'm being a little silly.

Thank you Smile

Put a sign up in the toilet 'Number 1s ONLY!'

I cannot ask to move, that's the issue, because there's no room to move Sad

My boss would be annoyed, no doubt.

Sounds like the bog needs a proper extractor - I think there are laws/regs about this sort of stuff. As for "even if someone DOES spray" I assume you mean a so-called air freshener which actually just adds the delicate aroma of a Bratislavan chemical works to the fetid stench of poo. Decent fan and door closed at all times I reckon.

How can I propose this to my boss, and most importantly, how do I word it? There's literally no room to move to, that's the issue.

I know it's not the case, but I feel like a Drama Queen, requesting changed to the loo etc.

Propose what?

Are you looking for some win-win managementspeak bollocks to try and sell the idea to the boss?

How about "please can I move away from the bogs because whenever anyone uses it there is a smell of shit which I find distressing?" i.e, the truth?

Voovinnie · 03/09/2015 15:18

Yes I get that, but as previously said, there's no where I can physically move to Hmm

Then what are you expecting from this thread? It's not reasonable to ask people not to shit in the toilet. You either rearrange the office (possibly removing unnecessary furniture), find a new job, or put up with it. Those are your options, really.

Hmm
