Since 07:10, there has been a Diesel engine running outside in our cul-de-sac.

Along with various bangs/scrapes/thuds.

Just been into ds bedroom to look, and its a skip collection lorry.

At least it will be gone soon...

7.10? No, it's not that early on a working day.

googoodolly · 02/09/2015 07:46

No earlier than the bin men coming along, surely?

Lilaclily · 02/09/2015 07:48

Agree fine on a week day
Road workers bin men etc start at 6.30 or thereabouts

WhyCantIuseTheNameIWant · 02/09/2015 08:50

We must have lazy bin men! They are never here before 11:00.

And are gone in less than 5 minutes.

Thankfully mr skip has finished shouting and gone too. 50 minutes to load his skip.

Obviously, I am too used to peace and quiet and lie-ins Sad

Too early for my liking, OP! I'm not up at 7:10 on a working day. YANBU.

googoodolly · 02/09/2015 09:05

11am?! Our bin men start at 6-6.30am. You're lucky.

I think 7.10am during the working week is perfectly acceptable. At the weekend it would be too early, but not on a Wednesday morning.

MrsTedCrilly · 02/09/2015 09:07

Yep too early! And I get up at 6.30/7 every day with a toddler.

MammaTJ · 02/09/2015 09:10

We must have lazy bin men! They are never here before 11:00.

You are probably nearer the end of the route! They most likely do start 6.30-7, but somewhere else.

TuckingFablet · 02/09/2015 09:12

Our bin men come at 6am for recycling week and closer to midday if it's just rubbish collection. 7.10 is a lie in for me

WhyCantIuseTheNameIWant · 02/09/2015 09:20

Mammary, that's probably right. But not as amusing.

Comes in handy at 09:30 on a Tuesday, when you realise it's bin-day!

How frustrating! Very early.

I have a permanent 6am alarm clock due to our NDN's child.

Every morning at 6am, she stands outside our kitchen window and screams "DADDY DADDY BUBYE BUBYE" at her DDad leaving for work for 15 minutes.

Every morning. 6 days a week. It drives me absolutely insane. Especially as I do shift work and sometimes have only got to bed at 3am.

Although apparently IWBU to say anything to my NDN.

Not too early on a weekday, but I agree it's annoying. The guy who mows our lawn took to starting at 7am at one point and I did tell him to come later out of consideration for the neighbours, especially since they're mostly elderly and don't work. I think a one off like skip collection is forgiveable though.

HarryDresdensLeatherDuster · 02/09/2015 09:54

Seems a bit early, but I'd be more annoyed about taking 40 minutes to load with all of the banging and clanking and beeping when reversing. Mind you, my neighbour was fiddling about with a car alarm which he set off for 17 minutes at 8.04 on bank holiday Monday. Not that I was timing it or anything Grin!

FuckOffJeffrey · 02/09/2015 10:02

Our bin men collect 7:30am Sunday mornings which does annoy me as they are as quiet as a heard of elephants. However at least our collections are still weekly and not fortnightly like some places so I can't complain really. The recycling men are much quieter but come later (8:30ish) every second Wednesday.

VacantlyStaring · 02/09/2015 10:05

I don't actually think it's that early on a week day to be honest and I think a skip lorry is fine because it's a one-off.

When we had a skip delivered here a few weeks ago, the chap turned up at 6:30am. I went outside to say hello and thanks etc and he started talking really loudly over the noise of the lorry about what a lovely quiet area we lived in. The irony. We'd only lived there a couple of weeks, we're about 100 years younger than everyone else in the street and I suspect most of the neighbours think we're rather common- I was absolutely cringing.
