Peas and beans down the sink

Asked the other half if he'd kindly do the dishes , we had peas and baked beans in a bowl almost a full tin of each i asked how he disposed of them..
He said down the sink, now he's a sarcastic fecker so i assumed he was joking
But nope he spent the time and effort to mush every little pea and bean down the plughole
AIBU to have had a little sob at just how ludicrous it was? I'm giving him the silent treatment and the devil eyes, he is just not understanding why i am annoyed!

Have you asked him why he did that rather than scraping them into the bin (surely easier)?
YANBU but you should probably tell him why you're annoyed... in fact don't act annoyed, just incredulous that anyone would do that.

Iamnotloobrushphobic · 27/08/2015 16:21

Do you not have a food bin for the recycling?
I would be pissed off if my DH put actual food down the sink and I would make him take the pipes apart to check for blockages or debris.

MischiefInTheWind · 27/08/2015 16:22

And whilst you sit and roll your eyes and sigh, he's never going to know.
Why the hell not just tell him, in a non-passive aggressive and patronising way?
Yes, he was thick, but show him what to do next time. Or you'll be doing this pathetic routine for the next however many years you might be together.

Sorry what i meant was i told him why i was annoyed and he said he doesn't get it and that it was fine to do what he did
And now I'm doing the silent treatment/devil eyes...

I tried to be calm and explain about blockages and asked why he didn't put them in the bin, but he was looking at me like I'm the thick one. Hence why my annoyed meter went up a notch ( or two)
11 years we've been together I'm wondering if it's something he's always done now lol

He's an eejit. Unless he grew up with a waste disposal unit, then why on earth would he think that you wash food down the sink?

Bunbaker · 27/08/2015 16:43

"Do you not have a food bin for the recycling?"

We don't where we live.

I agree with mischief. He needs to know that the only things that should go down the sink are liquids - no solids and definitely no fats. You would have thought that common sense would prevail, but clearly not here.

corgiology · 27/08/2015 17:02

Should have put them in the fridge for tomorrow instead of wasting food :)

howabout · 27/08/2015 17:07

Sounds like he panicked when he couldn't work out the appropriate bin management strategy. He needs taking in hand.

We have food waste recycling but the tiny bin would cope with about one day's worth of veg peelings etc for all of us. I loved when we were in our US apartment with the waste disposal in the sink.

DirtyMugPolice · 27/08/2015 17:13

Yanbu but I'd explain to him why it's such a bad idea to put them down the plug. Cleaning out a blocked u bend is a horrid job!
