The kfc ad where the teen is whizzing off on a moped wearing shorts and t shirt is Really irresponsible imo.

I know it's only an advert and I know it's meant to be in Greece or somewhere but I cringe when I see kids on peds wearing clothes that would be shredded if they came off and this ad also makes me cringe.

Am I being a boring old fart?

Yes

Gatehouse77 · 26/08/2015 22:56

Nope! DH rants at any bikers who are not properly clothed - especially no gloves!

Minisoksmakehardwork · 26/08/2015 22:59

Yanbu. The younger generation are at higher risk of accident and injury. We're also led to believe they are more impressionable.

Our police are doing a huge, regular, summer drive on motorbike safety. Including wearing appropriate gear.

coffeeisnectar · 26/08/2015 23:03

Thanks blue :o

Gate, I regularly see bikers in shorts, tee, trainers and gloves. It just baffles me. We live in an area that's got a massive biker population and I wish some of the ones with bigger bikes would set a better example to the newer riders.

Best was the one wearing flip flops. Fucking flip flops on a ped. Jesus, I wanted to pull her over and show her photos of the injuries my dp got whilst wearing full gear.

It should be law. Like seatbelts.

Mini, that's a great thing, wish the police would do it here. Be cheaper than scraping them off the road.

Agreed.

Seems quite realistic though, whenever I've been to Spain all the locals seem to be pootling about on their mopeds in normal clothes. Too hot for leathers.

coffeeisnectar · 26/08/2015 23:14

But that's in Spain and the advert is being shown here. It's been hot here too, hence seeing people riding in beach gear. Being hot is not a reason to ride unprotected. Just take your gear off when you get where you are going. You can get summer gear now, more expensive but it's like a rash vest with mesh over it and the protective bits over spine, chest, elbows etc so a lot cooler but still protecting from serious injury.
