To want the bedroom window open

I hate sleeping in a hot stuffy bedroom and insist on the window being open every night. I sleep on the window side of the bed.

Dh thinks I'm being wholly unreasonable and as he goes to be a couple of hours before me shuts the windows before he falls asleep making the room unbearable when I go to bed.

Who is BU here?

I feel your pain. I've managed to persuade DH to let me have the window open at night because I'm pregnant. He would also prefer a stuffy bedroom at night. I'm hoping that once the baby comes I can argue to keep the lovely fresh air.

Yanbu. This is my situation too.

I love the window open. The breeze, the coolness, the gentle, soothing sounds of the night.

Then dh comes in and shuts it. In a few minutes, I'm in a stuffy room with the sounds of a snoring beast.
He says it gets cold and the dawn birds wake him up.
I want my own bedroom!

RJnomaaaaaargh · 19/08/2015 07:53

Yanbu. I woke up choking on Sunday night because the windows were shut. Dh doesn't mind them open thankfully, we had just forgotten they had been closed.

googoodolly · 19/08/2015 08:03

YANBU, we always have our windows open at night - especially in summer.

NeuNewNouveau · 19/08/2015 08:11

YANBU but neither is your DH.

I don't like the window open, neither does DH much as you can hear the outside. I prefer quiet am even if that is a bit stuffy.

It's personal preference, perhaps you can take it in turns?

I like going to sleep with them open, but hate being woken up by the screeching birds and random rectangle of sunlight that appears on the wall, so I don't think either of you ABU! That helped didn't it!

I find I'm freezing even under heaps of blankets if the window is left open, as my partner and myself run on different temperatures. We compromise and he gets a fan every night and occasionally gets the window open if it's not going to be really cold in the morning. And we sleep with our door open

Sallyhasleftthebuilding · 19/08/2015 08:55

I love feeling the cold heavy air settle in at night ... it like feeling the sun on your face or listening to the sea. Window open. You sleep through the birds eventually

notinagreatplace · 19/08/2015 08:57

Every time anyone says that they're finding a room "stuffy", invariably I have just started to think "oh, it's almost a nice temperature now, how cosy". I feel the cold!

You might - I can't, especially not when they are standing on the roof right by the window yelling in apparently just to piss me off!

Sallyhasleftthebuilding · 19/08/2015 09:24

... we have a resident seagull ...

SniffsAndSneezes · 19/08/2015 09:34

I can't have the window open. I have raging year-round hayfever (hence my username), and we also have seagulls, one particularly noisy crow and the delightful sounds of the nearby north circular to contend with!

MrsTedCrilly · 19/08/2015 10:45

YANBU! It's lovely being wrapped in a duvet while the air is cool around it.. It smells fresh too. I like the taking it in turns idea, I think that's fair! He has just as much right to have it how he likes it.
