To object to my house being used as a hotel?

George, our resident large spider, has been merrily living under ds's shelves for the last few months. I don't mind him, he doesn't mind us.
He went missing this last week, I assume on holiday, which I'm a bit annoyed about him not mentioning.
Anyway, he's now back but appears to have brought numerous friends with him to stay! I found one huge one in the kitchen sink doing who knows what, and another in our bedroom trying to take over. AIBU to think it's not on a) to disappear without telling us, and b) to bring friends home to stay?

Yanbu.
They need to be contributing to the household. Either financially, or by working. Keeping flies down is perfectly acceptable here.

YABU to have provided accommodation for him in the shelves in the first place. That was your first mistake.

Oh that's rather sweet. Our resident bathroom spider died earlier in the week and I miss him. He was only a tiddler though, lived in a bath toy. Send a small one this way!

I found a mug and a coaster on the back lawn this morning, where dd had obviously found our resident tarantula and evicted him, poor thing he was a house spider not a garden one.

If it was last week, I'm pretty sure George vacationed in our bath. We all came to look at him, he was so leggily impressive. I hope he had a nice time, we miss him. I'm sorry about washing him away but he wouldn't let us pick him up, not even DS1 who is a spider whisperer.

TBH you've made a rod for your own back.this sort of behaviour should have been nipped in the bud a long time ago. He doesn't respect you and who can blame him.

I have a spider that lives in my car ...I have never seen it just find its webs. I usually have one between my window and the dash. (Feel guilty winding down the window as it wrecks them).
They are only little ones so it isn't George. And I think George probably isn't as stupid as it repairs the broken one and I have never seen any evidence of it ever catching anything to eat in it (surprised it hasn't starved).
If I ever see it think the kindest thing would be to release it into someone's garden... assuming it doesn't drop down the back of my neck as I am driving down the motorway when it is likely to get squashed

He sounds entitled and he's taking you for granted. Did you do everything for him as a spiderling? Has he ever been given the chance to catch a fly for the whole family? Spin his own web? It's a tricky age but I think it's time for some tough love.

We had one we named Big Dave, who evicted me and my Dsis from our conservatory earlier this week. He was flexing his muscles and muttering about collecting money with menaces, so I can only assume he was a bailiff. He did a stellar job as neither of us have set foot in there since!

A spider lives in my wing mirror. It hides behind the glass and went to Cornwall with us two weeks ago. I've not seen him since so can only assume he's upgraded to a nicer car or quite possibly a campervan.

At least our disco spiders are earning their keep, the freeloading swallows in the garage still haven't fucked off to Africa. Their Mum and Dad have buggered off to roost in a nearby tree but the stroppy messy teens jeep flying back every night.

We had a lie in on Saturday and let them out at 7:30am instead of dawn, and got yelled at.

I think George needs some boundaries.

I know our fucking birds do.

You know it sounds like George may actually be a Georgina and perhaps she didn't go on holiday? I suspect she went to spider hospital for an elective section (due to multiple babies).

I have one in my wing mirror too. It's a big fucker. Not good when I glance in the mirror and there are effectively two big bastards just sitting outside of my car. And my window is down. And I'm driving at 40. How I don't crash more often is beyond me.

Mind you, I had revenge the other day on the motorway. He came out when I was at 70mph. Interesting mid air acrobatics on the end of his web, but the bloody thing still managed to reel himself back to safety. He probably has a cape.

We have a resident spider named Sid living in the hallway. After a couple of months a new smaller, cocky upstart spider moved to the opposite hood corner. They had a kind of gangster turf war going on where Sid would remain in his corner (near the window, prime real estate food wise) and the other would venture out once a week or so to the adjoining corners (alternating left and right) before retreating the next day to his original opposite corner when his hostile takeover was abandoned.

It went on for a couple of months until one day the cocky young upstart (Gavin) ventured down onto the cat scratch post where he was promptly eaten by the kitten.

The kitten spends an awful lot of time just hanging around the hallway. Sid remains kingpin of the corners and newcomers rarely last 24 hours. I like to think he pays the kitten in moths for his protection and the kids like to think I read way too much into this type of thing

So, I may know a spider and kitten who could help you with your problem... For a fee. (flies and dreamies)
