Could do comedy

He's sorry serious all the time. He's a brilliant dramatic actor but I can't imagine him doing comedy. His face doesn't seem to lend itself to humour.

Completely off topic but he was a shit Mr Darcy, Colin Firth all the way.

I'll leave your thread now..

Toffeelatteplease · 08/08/2015 21:13

Yes he can be very funny. He played fop the Alan Davis adaption of the way we live now.

LunchpackOfNotreDame · 08/08/2015 21:13

Oh I agree on the Darcy thing

It was the writing and pace of the pride and prejudice film that let the actors down. I still remember the hand thing he did when he hand Elizabeth Bennett into the carriage. That was nicely done

Toffeelatteplease · 08/08/2015 21:17

Andrew Davies

It would have to be very deadpan humour, naturally.

He worse some very funny disco gear in an Ashes to Ashes episode. Does that count?

JimmyChoosChimichanga · 08/08/2015 21:24

I think he was a better Mr Darcy than Colin Firth. I thought he was excellent in Little Dorrit too. I so would!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 08/08/2015 21:25

I absolutely love him as Darcy (detest Colin Firth) but have never seen him in anything else.

Rjae · 08/08/2015 21:26

Gorgeous in ripper street. Sorry what was the question..... Blush

NormanLamont · 08/08/2015 21:26

Memory fail - not actually disco Smile

He does comedy extremely well in Ripper Street.

MalmseyWhine · 08/08/2015 21:45

He was in Jeeves and Wooster in the West End last year, that was a comedy although I didn't get to see it as too bloody skint and a bit slapstick. He's also done Noel Coward.

He can do me anytime, nevermind comedy.

MummaGiles · 08/08/2015 21:49

I saw him play Jeeves in the West End last year and he was very funny in that, in a straight man kind of way. Many different ways to be funny.

MalmseyWhine · 08/08/2015 21:51

Envy Was he gorgeous MummaGiles? Could you see his big hands and broad chest?
