I've always wondered about the 'high cheekbones' being attractive thing, and looking at faces it seems that cheekbones are naturally high because they are below the eyes - like the beginning of the eye sockets, and they are like this on everyone. AIBU to think the whole 'high cheekbones' thing is a bit of a misnomer?

Maybe cheekbones are more obvious on slimmer people or those with longer faces which is why they are considered attractive (although I love round faces.)

I have a round face with high cheekbones.

Certainly not skelatorish at all.

Ian Brown - back in the day!

Its an age thing.. I have a rather long face and Im 52. I dont actually like angular faces, its either your face or your arse for me, id rather a nice plumpish smile face where my cheekbones dont protude and a fat arse Grin

U2 you have the perfect combo, like my dh. I have a square face and defo veer into the Skeletor area if I lose any weight.

TravellingHopefully12 · 02/08/2015 22:25

U2, yeah that sounds really nice. As I say, I like round faces a lot, so find the high cheekbone thing a bit incomprehensible...

I did wonder this too, I don't have them and I seem to be skinny everywhere but my cheeks and no cheekbones to see. Hmm

DonkeyOaty · 02/08/2015 23:47

I don't either

I look like Hogget's wife in Babe the Pig Hmm

Goshthatsspicy · 02/08/2015 23:50

I have high cheekbones.
Don't have anything else to add though, unfortunately Grin

I don't like the shape of my face.

I love chiselled faces. Pretty much every man I have ever been attracted to had thin faces, well defined jaws and long (not big big) noses. One of the first things I notice about men are their jaws. I love long jaws, but not Bruce Forsyth big! Also not Ian Brown thin.

U2, I think Audrey Hepburn was an example of round face with obvious cheekbones, I think it sounds like a really nice face shape to have, but no one likes what they get.

I have had people describe my face has having "good cheek bones" or "look at those cheek bones" (usually elderly friends of my parents). I think my actual cheek bones are the same height as most people's but my face is quite angular so I suppose that's what they mean.

I get the same comments about looking gaunt when losing weight or looking 'much better' after putting it on from my brother, who also has high cheekbones, what with being my brother and born of two high cheekboned parents. He's just a bit fatter than me.

It's out of kindness - he was sensitive to weight loss and gain because his wife, who also had high cheekbones, had cancer. But it's a pain in the arse being virtually compared to Skeletor with a side order of eating disorder and before she died she told him to stop nagging me and presumably her.
