Eughhh!!! Definitely the latter (as a former thumb sucker!!)

Sucking your thumb. It is infantile.

Picking your nose and eating it is a guilty pleasure, like picking and eating scabs.

Picking your nose and eating it! It's gross and no one should be doing it, regardless of age. Why would you eat something that is essentially a waste product (not to mention all the other impurities that get 'caught' in the nose.

Whereas thumb sucking is an extension of a reflex that humans naturally do when younger, that someone just hasn't 'grown out of'

(pS I sucked my thumb into my 20s, I know now it was a way of stimming and reducing anxiety due to my AS. I wouldn't be surprised if any adult sucking their thumb in public turned out to be non-NT in some way)

I mean, they're eating their snot hardened and mixed with germs, dust, dirt and pollen
