I can see that it's small, but still not really on for your painter to be getting it on their side.

You haven't really given your opinion though op So it's hard to tell if yabu Or notm

Allstoppedup · 15/07/2015 21:19

I can see why he'd be annoyed that they had been careless and damaged his patio, that said I'd just take a photo/mention it when you got back (does he know you are on holiday?)

What was your neighbours response to you saying you would fix it when you got back?

ghostyslovesheep · 15/07/2015 21:19

yes I'm not sure of the question ? of course you have to sort it out but it wont be hard to do so

Methe · 15/07/2015 21:19

Well who do you think is being unreasonable?

LokiBear · 15/07/2015 21:19

I'd maintain the apology and clean it off his patio. It's small but completely not your neighbour's fault.

whois · 15/07/2015 21:21

It's small but why should he spend timing on his hands and knees because your painter was careless?

Spartans · 15/07/2015 21:25

What are you asking? If he is bu?

Of course he isnt

Binkleflip · 15/07/2015 21:25

get round there with your scrubbing brush and an apology bottle of wine!

lutra3d · 15/07/2015 21:25

There are a few splodges there. I'd be pissed off too.

sonjadog · 15/07/2015 21:26

You need to apologise and fix it. I would be annoyed if I were him too.

BlackbirdOnTheWire · 15/07/2015 21:31

Yep, you need to fix it... But difficult to work out what we're supposed to comment on the unreasonableness of! U of the neighbour to be irate? To phone you? To complain?

cuntycowfacemonkey · 15/07/2015 21:34

Reasonable for him to complain, right for you to apologise and fix problem.

fourtothedozen · 15/07/2015 21:35

I am not sure i would have a painter at my house when I am on holiday.
I wouldn't even go out when I have tradesman in. Invariably they need to ask questions, do something I haven't asked for or make sploges.

Completely your fault OP- you owe your neighbour an apology.

ShakesBootyFlabWobbles · 15/07/2015 21:35

cuntycow nails it

oddfodd · 15/07/2015 21:36

Yes of course you need to fix it. Not sure why you're asking

MistressMerryWeather · 15/07/2015 21:38

Well she did apologise.

If he really was irate then it's a little silly.

You've said you will fix it that's all you can do. Quick power hose when you get back should do it.

MitzyLeFrouf · 15/07/2015 21:39

Absolute fuss over nothing but if he wants it fixed you have to fix it.

PeppaWellington · 15/07/2015 21:40

I thought it was bird poo at first.

But if not, it's your responsibility to get it cleaned up perfectly, and also turn up on his doorstep with a face to face apology and flowers/pot plant/wine etc.

MistressMerryWeather · 15/07/2015 21:43

Flowers? Wine? Pot Plants?! :o

It's a few paint splodges not a herd of goats.

PtolemysNeedle · 15/07/2015 21:45

The painter should sort it.

Sparklingbrook · 15/07/2015 21:48

YY forward picture to your painter and tell them to sort it.

WeAllHaveWings · 15/07/2015 21:59

Yes, to getting painter to take responsibility and deal with neighbour. Now the paint had dried in it will be harder to remove without damaging the surface of the bricks.

I've just spent >£4k getting patio in and garden bits done and was very unhappy with red cedar fence paint on my new slabs (careless/thoughtless dh). We can't remove it so will just have to wait till it fades, but as it was our fault need to live with it. If it was my neighbour I would expect them to fix.

shirleybasseyslovechild · 15/07/2015 22:00

did some of you read the OP ?

I apologised and said I'd fix it, in fact the painter will. .( I'm a bit pissed off at the painter )

I was relieved when he sent the photos that it was so minor , but if I'd been him I'd have cleaned it myself. in fact I would not have been bothered by it. he described it as " huge splodges "

ps he knows I am on holiday

mistressmerryweather, brilliant !

wheresthelight · 15/07/2015 22:15

what you would have done is irrelevant OP, your neighbour is pissed off and to be honest i would be too. although i probably would have blasted your painter and only contacted you if he had refused to fix it.

You need to have it out with your painter - he should have had protective coverings put down
