Anyone clued up on Tesco salaries? (Maintenance related!)

I've never had an official calculation done in regards to how meh my ex should be paying for our two boys. We split 12 years ago and I knew how much he earnt back then. As time as ticked by, he's only ever put the maintainance up begrudgingly when I've specifically asked him to. He will never contribute to anything extra such as school trips or uniforms etc and the kids have said he's changed job jobs considerably since he started with tesco 16 years ago!
He pays £195 a month for two kids. He has no other kids living with him and has his kids over night once a fortnight.
But ... I have no idea how much he earns or if he's ripping me off (because he can be a twat like that).
We 'think' he is now a warehouse supervisor working nights. North East locality. Do you reckon he'll be on more than £18k a year?

Also, how can we just get it done properly so there is no room for fannying about? Will CSA do it if I ask them to find out his yearly salary?

My ex and I have a private payment arrangement, but we submitted info to the CSA for calculation purposes. I have no idea if they still do that, but it could be worth asking.

UterusUterusGhali · 14/07/2015 21:41

You can find out his salary apparently.
Write a letter requesting to know and see a paycheque within x amount of days.
If not your solicitor can help if you have one.

If you go through the CSA they will find out.

wheresthelight · 14/07/2015 22:02

Can you look on their website and see if there are any jobs going on a similar position?

I live in the midlands and there is a distribution centre near me. My friend's dh is a supervisor on nights and isn't on 18k,he is only on about 16 so he may not be ripping you off

chickenfuckingpox · 14/07/2015 23:08

ask tesco for an idea of what the job pays explain why you want to know also make it clear you are asking what the job usually pays not what your ex is earning they should give you a ballpark figure

PfftTheMagicDraco · 15/07/2015 07:57

CMS will do a calculation for you, then inform you that they prefer you to work out an amicable arrangement.
If you can, they will not have further involvement, if you can't, he will have to pay a 20% fee to them on top of maintenance. So it will be worth his while paying the right amount to you.
Good luck.

fuckthetaps · 15/07/2015 08:53

Not sure if it's much help as he wasn't a supervisor but my brother was on £8.40 ph doing nights in the warehouse.

fuckthetaps · 15/07/2015 08:54

That was 2 years ago so I would have thought slightly higher now

googoodolly · 15/07/2015 09:49

He won't be on massive amounts. It depends on his hours as well, but night-rate in a supermarket is only around £8.50 ph, if that. I would say about 16-18k sounds about right for that kind of work.

googoodolly · 15/07/2015 09:50

But, he should be paying more than £195 a month. DP earns less than 16k and pays considerably more than that.

Treemuskears · 15/07/2015 10:00

If he's on 18K he's overpaying by about £20 a month.

Treemuskears · 15/07/2015 10:03

In fact under CMS it's £195 a month on 18K

x2boys · 15/07/2015 10:34

my dh works for tesco warehouse he works days earlies and lates he is n operative and earns about £14000 i dont think the senior operatives are on a huge amount more but with night enhancements etc he might just be on £18000 presuming he is senior operative and not a step higher?

Penfold007 · 15/07/2015 11:49

Tesco warehouse staff get between £6.65 and £8.79. It's unlikely that he earns in excess of £18k per year. The maintenance he is paying is about right for what you think he earns.

x2boys · 15/07/2015 13:23

by the way on this wage my husband pays maintenance via the csa for his daughter for£117/month obviously our two children are taken into account for this.

Bubblesinthesummer · 15/07/2015 13:29

TBH it sounds about right wage.

lemoncurd20 · 15/07/2015 13:35

I think it's quite sad that someone who has been working for the same company for that many years is paid that much.

whois · 15/07/2015 13:59

I think it's quite sad that someone who has been working for the same company for that many years is paid that much.

Its quite sad he hasn't got the desire or maybe the ability to increase his skills base and get a better job, yes.

Its not sad that you don't get paid more per year of doing the same job for the same company.

lemoncurd20 · 15/07/2015 14:06

Isn't a warehouse supervisor quite a good job?

It sounds important, I'm probably wrong.

fedupdownhere · 15/07/2015 14:43

check out Tesco recruitment site for similar job in similar area and see what the pay is for that

JOP272 · 15/07/2015 14:46

My husband used to work in this environment on nights as a normal order picker and was on 23500 pa in Yorkshire

TinklyLittleLaugh · 15/07/2015 15:06

Gosh, supervising people and working nights for £18000. I am actually quite shocked by that.

googoodolly · 16/07/2015 14:55

It's normally less, Tinkly. Retail is notoriously badly paid!
