to think my gro-egg is BU

since I bought it it's been constantly angry, red, and telling me it's too hot for my DD to wear anything more than a nappy. It IS hot, I'll give it that. But I don't think it's always 27 degrees in my bedroom, I have window open, a fan on. I am sleeping in there and not feeling like it's that hot. Do I just have an angry gro-egg, or is the gro-egg always right and IABU?

WTF is a gro-egg? Is it like a Tamigotchi?

DoTheDuckFace · 10/07/2015 21:05

Wow I never even heard of there! Poor parents have enough pressure without judgey egg!!

justmeokay · 10/07/2015 21:05

It's like a tamagotchi, if a tamagotchi was possessed by the spirit of an angry menopausal woman.

It is the Kim Il Jong of thermometers. It should really live in fear of CIA drones.

My gro egg did red or blue only and with such seething undercurrent of judgement at my parenting ability that it got given to someone for their pigeon loft.

LittleBearPad · 10/07/2015 21:15

Mine sat judging me for months - the bastard. I threw it across the room one particularly angry day. Blush

RevsDeCub · 10/07/2015 21:16

I'm pregnant & was considering buying a gro egg.... maybe not! Grin

It's cousin the gro clock is also a twat. 'Oooo look at me, the moon is awake' quite frankly my two year old dosent give a shit.

trinitybleu · 10/07/2015 21:31

proper lol-ing at Prozac, Kim Jong wotsit and the Calpol. And reminiscing about the number of hours spent telling DD that I don't care that there's "only" 2 stars left on the clock, go back to bed!

She's 8.5 now and I can still recite the story ... what fucking magic charm?!?

Lonecatwithkitten · 10/07/2015 21:33

Whatever happen to the little card nursery thermometers that you pinned the wall and only cost about £1. Ours nearly always said we were perfect.

RatOnnaStick · 10/07/2015 21:38

When DS2 changed from cot to bed the first night he calmly got out and ripped the crimson fucker out of the wall. "Better!" he said with a little smile on his 2yr old face and promptly fell asleep under the bed

DS1's works fine as a pretty coloured nightlight.

LibrariesGaveUsPower · 10/07/2015 21:39

We had a card one.Came free with a gro bag. Generally fairly relaxed around my temperature based parenting.

justmeokay · 10/07/2015 21:40

The sad thing is I know it's useless, it's not even in my DD's room (she's just moved in to her own cot), I have it in my bedroom and we are in some kind of passive aggressive relationship now without anything to do with the baby...

It is the curse of the paranoid parent. DD was born in June and all I remember from the first few months of her life was was watching that fucker frown at me like it was my fault it was too hot. I always imagine African women laughing their tits off at the panic we feel when the temperature goes above 22 degrees C.

Put the bastard in the freezer, see if that makes it happy.

Sweetpotatoaddict · 10/07/2015 21:55

Reading with envy, ours has only just achieved yellow after a winter of resolutely showing only blue.... The joys of living in Scotland! I didn't even realise it could show red.

roofio87 · 10/07/2015 22:04

reminds me of the little room thermometer we had on our fireplace in my student house, no one knew where it came from but it always said our room was alarming hot. on closer inspection when we moved out it was supposed to be in the fridge to tell if that was at the right temperature. Yes, our living room was too hot to be a fridge!! Grin

BlackeyedSusan · 10/07/2015 22:27

our flat hits thirty to thirty five in a heat wave and there is not asodding thing we can do about it. the poor thing would freak out living here.
