to think that this is so rude?

DD has always walked along to the school bus stop in the morning, so I've never picked up on this. She's left school now so there's nothing that can be done, but I'm a bit

Her friend's mum drives her to the bus stop, parks next to where DD is standing waiting and then the two of them sit in the car looking at her until the school bus comes. Even in the rain and the snow DD stands next to them while they sit in the nice warm car! I would never do that to her friends!

DD just laughed it off and said the friend's mum is a bit odd!

Yes, it is bloody rude. Why on earth wouldn't they tell your dd that she can sit in the car too?? And why does her friend need to do that anyway, does she melt in the rain?

I'd guess they're having family time? If you're ok with her waiting out in the wind and rain, why shouldn't someone else's parent be?

She does spend a colossal amount of time on her hair

I wouldn't be able to sit looking at someone I knew quite well as they stood outside getting wet and I was sitting 2 metres away!

Yanbu what a cow. Who sits in a nice warm car looking at someone you know standing in freezing weather. And her friend is none the better.

It's a school pick up, but the two girls are the only girls in their year group and they aren't really friends with anyone else.

Odd and rude. Obviously she doesn't have to offer to your DD to sit in the car, and of course you're fine with your DD standing to wait in the rain/cold, but it seems really lacking in basic manners not to offer to someone stood just there to sit in the car too while they wait.

Yes it'd be nice to ask, but I don't think it's something you can expect. It's not like this is a one off - it was every day, and the parent might have felt that inviting once would make it awkward not to do it everyday. Parent might feel she doesn't want to spend the 5-10 mins each morning she gets to chat with her DD making small talk with your DD. It's possible she doesn't like your DD. I don't think you can judge her - if it was too cold/wet for your DD it was on you to make arrangements to accommodate that.
