It goes sweaty and moulds in heat like this.

DH says I must be some kind of serial killer.

You are right. Wish I had room to put mine in.

Suefla62 · 01/07/2015 22:08

I freeze my sliced bread always. You can break of as many slices as you need, five minutes later- lovely fresh bread.

QuiteLikely5 · 01/07/2015 22:08

I always do it as it keeps it fresher. The coldness prevents the mould growing on it so quickly.

AnulTheMagnificent · 01/07/2015 22:08

I keep mine in the fridge, always because no-one else eats normal bread and it will last for ages

I also keep the gluten free bread in the fridge.

travertine · 01/07/2015 22:09

Watched a programme last week will try to see what it was, apparently the cold speeds up the mould.

dementedpixie · 01/07/2015 22:12

putting it in the fridge makes it go stale faster

Notcontent · 01/07/2015 22:17

I always keep it in the fridge, unless it's something like a baguette that I intend to eat on the same day. It never goes mouldy. I obviously put it into an air-tight bag.

MarinaCoyle · 01/07/2015 22:20

YANBU. I've done experiments on this and it's fridge bread all the way.

mumeeee · 01/07/2015 22:50

Bread actually goes mouldy more quickly in the fridge.

BrilliantineMortality · 02/07/2015 00:28

Apparently bread goes stale six times more quickly in the fridge than at room temperature. (Google bread fridge stale).

BabyFeets · 02/07/2015 00:32

I always keep it in the fridge

FastWindow · 02/07/2015 00:37

Damp bread. Yuck.

I saw a programme where they made sandwiches out of frozen slices. Defrosted by lunchtime. I have yet to test this.

I wish I had the freezer space to freeze half my bready purchase, as toast from frozen is just fine. chest freezer yearnings

ninaaa · 02/07/2015 01:01

Bread goes stale faster in the fridge, you should freeze it and take out of the freezer when you need it.

Today DH put the bananas in the fridge. I am trying to decide who is more unreasonable, him or you.

FastWindow · 02/07/2015 01:05

Ninaaa apparently it's just the skin of the banana that goes black in the fridge. The banana itself is as good as when you put it in.
disclaimer i read this on the interwebs.

Trills · 02/07/2015 01:11

The cold damp air inside a fridge is not good for bread.

Freeze some if you must, but don't fridge it.

PuntasticUsername · 02/07/2015 02:24

So if putting bread in the fridge isn't good for it then your DH is actually kind of right in that what with bread (usually) being made out of wheat, you actually are sort of a cereal killer Grin

CEREAL KILLER.

SEE WHAT I DI...oh, never mind.

bumbleymummy · 02/07/2015 08:27

I hate cold bread.

Grin puntastic

HappydaysArehere · 02/07/2015 08:34

Always put bread in the freezer. Remove as required acts it defrosts in minutes or can be toasted immediately. Don't waste any that way!
