Whole house being decorated.
They covered the furniture to paint. But now the whole place is covered in white paint dust. It's the sanding. It is everywhere, In everything. Even on the clean laundry
I want to scream and cry
But they seem to think I'm overreacting?!

It's in all the books
In my sons toys
The hob
The kitchen cabinets

What did you think was going to happen? They have to sand if you don't want them to do a shit job. You should have put things out of the way.

Beachday · 22/06/2015 21:24

I expected them to keep the covers on the furniture

gamerchick · 22/06/2015 21:24

What did you expect to happen though?

Just hold on to the thought that it'll end and shift some stuff out of the way.

Beachday · 22/06/2015 21:25

They are doing everything at once, there is nowhere to put anything

It's just dust! They have to do the prep

AnyoneForTennis · 22/06/2015 21:26

Covers wouldn't help much with dust anyway

gamerchick · 22/06/2015 21:28

Then ask them to concentrate on one area at a time and take longer, move out for a bit, use storage or grit your teeth until it's over.

they sound like they're doing a really professional job and you'll love the result when it's finished. The prep won't last long.

crazykat · 22/06/2015 21:29

Even with covers on the dust will still get everywhere.

We had rewiring done and covered the sofas in dust sheets ourselves but when we took them off at night the sofas still had to be cleaned to sit on them.

Beachday · 22/06/2015 21:30

Obviously iabu.
I have to clean every single inch of my house now
All the furniture was covered, I don't understand why they would take the covers off to do the sanding

OP posts:
Beachday · 22/06/2015 21:33

It's like all the furniture has been whitewashed, this is after cleaning it

OP posts:
gamerchick · 22/06/2015 21:33

Oh god rewiring.. It's been 6years and I still get the horrors just thinking about it.

Have a word about the covers.. I don't understand why they've taken them off either.

gamerchick · 22/06/2015 21:34

Maybe they needed them elsewhere because they didn't have enough?

I probably would cover myself with strict instructions.

Beachday · 22/06/2015 21:38

They had a roll of brand new polythene stuff
It did work, the couch is fine, thankfully
There's loads there.
The wooden units are brand new ????

My husband has his own painting business. He's good at what he does but one of the reasons he gets reused time and time again and recommended is because he also always tidys up after himself meticulously. When paying a trades man I expect the same.

Jen1610 · 22/06/2015 21:52

Painting business...that sounds shit..he owns a painting and decorating company. Himself and the guys that work for him are all tidy and leave places as tidy (or in some cases tidier!!) as they were to begin with. I don't think your being ur.

Beachday · 22/06/2015 23:20

I'm sick of employing people to do things and then having to clean up after them

OP posts:
AnyoneForTennis · 22/06/2015 23:23

So do it yourself? It's not hard

Beachday · 22/06/2015 23:56

Because I don't have the time, health, energy, patience or inclination. Or the equipment.

So after their pathetic attempt at cleaning
I complained again
The manager told me to stop cleaning and they will be here first thing
He apologised profusely
They've also trashed my Hoover and mop and the patio needs cleaning too
I don't think a regular clean will do it, I think it needs to be an industrial clean

My dad owns a decorating company, it is quite possible to decorate without covering the house in crap, and yes they should clean up after themselves
