Tandem feeding at wedding - an update!

Some of you may remember that a couple of months ago I posted about my SIL wishing to BF her baby and 3 year old at the same time at our wedding and how she felt I'd implied it wouldn't be allowed. Original thread here

So last time I posted we'd replied to their email saying that wires had been crossed and she could feed when and where she wanted. The thread got to 1000 posts before I had an update and caused a bit of a stir!

DH rang BIL a few days later and told him to chill out and they could do what they like.

We've just got back from a wonderful honeymoon so thought I'd provide an update. Apparently SIL didn't feed during the ceremony (not that of have noticed anyway) but did tandem feed during dinner and even through some of the best mans speech. However she was at a table at the back of the room so not many people noticed. A few people mentioned it to me, but not in an annoyed way, they were more shocked than anything. Not that I'd have cared as we had the most amazing day!

There was never any chance, at all, that she wasn't going to tandem feed at some point during the proceedings.

As said above, of course she was going to tandem feed. Kind of a point of honour after that ridiculous fuss she and the rather over-invested DH made about being offended that you'd arrNged for a room with comfy seats rather than banqueting chairs.

The fact that even a few people mentioned it possibly means a whole lot more noticed it, btw.

Which did mean that said speech was not interrupted by children crying.
If said speech was halfway decent, eyes would be on best man and bride/groom not on some random's boobs at the back of the room.

To be fair grannytomine , I suspect most people would be shocked to see a 3 year old being breastfed. It may not be right but I think it's natural - the percentage of 3 year olds being breastfed in the UK must be fairly low and most of those that are breastfed will be morning and night feeds in their own home only. I've personally never seen a child over 1.5ish being breastfed (maybe I move in the wrong circles) so would be a bit shocked to see a 3 year old. I've also never seen anyone tandem feed. So yes, I might have a bit of a surreptitious stare. I don't think I'd be shocked in a bad way. But I still would be.
