Ds goes to scouts. They have a facebook page. Tonight a parent posted that their ds will not be there tonight as they are off on an outwards bounds course doing all sorts of fantastic things. Now maybe they are giving this info in the hope to getting a badge but to me it just seems a bit braggy and tmi

It seems reasonable to give a reason for not being there.

My son would be back the next week regaling them with tales of the things he'd done, and trying to talk the scout leaders onto doing the same.

An outward bounds course is something 80% of kids do these days anyway, so hardly 'out there'

I didn't bother with any bragging, simply apologised that he would be missing the next meeting, as he will be away on a school trip. Also made a note that any other scouts who are in y6 and transferring to the local comp in September will probably be on the same trip...
