to demand sympathy

I've got sinusitis. I have a prescription but because it's viral I can't fill it until Friday if I still feel unwell.

I want to cut off my head, I feel sick, dizzy, can't eat anything other than Polo mints and feel like I need to sleep for a week.

Dd2's at pre school for another half hour, I have to take her swimming (lesson, fortunately, so I don't need to get in), then pick up dd1, then take her to her music lesson later.

Dh gets sinusitis quite often, and says he "can cope with it" and I deserve no sympathy. Because he "just gets on with it". He's planning on working til 6 tonight, so I'll have to do tea and start bedtime too (take him 45 mins to get home).

Aibu to want a self indulgent moan?

Moan away, apparently it's horrendous.

DH took time off of work for it. The only time he's had off sick in 20 years so must be horrendous.

Can a friend come and help you out?

Depends. How much sympathy have you given him for his ongoing problem?

It can be difficult to feel as warm and fuzzy as you perhaps should when your partner suffers an ailment you have had, but you were expected by everyone (partner included) to just get on with it.

Thank you. I don't want to put on my friends (one has a poorly child;the other has a tiny baby and a toddler) and my parents always go to lunch on Wednesday. Both retired but hey ho.

Might have to call in sick myself tomorrow. Oh yes, I've been battling this at work too.

He never tells me he feels ill!!!! And he gets it loads and needs a referral but refuses...

Sinusitis is beyond hideous. I've had it a number of times and I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. Everyone copes with illness differently though so he is not necessarily BU.

Firmly on the fence but have and some virtual sympathy. (Unhelpful, sorry!)

You poor thing! He is being very unsympathetic and needs a good kick in the shins.

Have you tried putting a hot flannel on your face - I get sinusitis at the start of every cold (not as badly as you have it) and I find that the hot flannel thing really soothes and helps.

Sinusitis is rubbish! But the severity can vary for people, he's clearly having trouble realising how hard it is for you. I get it so often now Antibiotics don't work very well, but can I recommend sitting with a towel over your head & a steaming bowl of water? It eases it somewhat, esp if you do it regularly. My gp suggested it as an alternative to drugs.

Deepest sympathy from me, I've had it while pregnant and it was horrific. Have you tried a sinus rinse? I was very sceptical about squirting liquid up my nostrils (and it is an odd sensation) but it worked! Unbelievably horrible amounts of hinge came out giving temporary relief.

Sinusitis is horrible :( I get bouts of it on a regular basis (martyr ) but as long as I take regular antihistamines and nasal sprays it keeps it at bay.

I do the menthol steam inhalation thing too, but I also find any cold and flu type painkillers hit the spot (beechams or Sudafed types).

When it's really bad I just want to lie in a darkened room.

My DD gets sinusitis badly and often I do sympathise. Agree with pp steam and olbas/eucalyptus oil, dd2 often "boils her head". Could you fill the prescription now, I very much doubt this will just clear up. . Hope you feel better soon x

I currently am surrounded (at work) by Sudafed, ibuprofen, an olbas inhaler and a 4Head stick....

Try a nasal rinse, they sell them in boots called Neilmed. It would cure it by it will relive it for a while.

I think dh has forgotten that I always do get on with being ill and sorting the dc. There does come a time when rest is needed though!

Inhale anything...frankly just steam will help and also (yes really) put wooden spoons in a hot cup of water and then put them against any sore spots on your face and head which you have. You end up looking like a strange spotted thing but it helps (and keeps everyone entertained!)
