Spider killer?

I know I should be kind to all of mother natures creatures and set a good example for dd but when there is a spider in my home it is going to get squished! How do you deal with them, do you gently put them outside or squash the feckers flat?

delphine I'm a bit like you and my fear is fading as I get older. Its since dc I think as when DS was born I was passing on my fear to him so instead we decided to give spiders a name (DS picked John) so now all spiders are John and I can even catch and release small ones, giant beasts are left to DH though still.

I even have a resident spider who lives in the dining room, he's been there for a good 2 years now he's called Barry

I have killed spiders in the past but wouldn't dream of doing it in front of LO and I just don't do it at all now. I feel ashamed. I suck it up and tell DS about the lovely spider and we collect it up and put it outside. Then i shudder for the rest of the day and flinch at every tickle or itch.

I also wasn't aware they would most likely die outside. Hopefully they make it to the neighbours .....

I am a serial spider murderer....
I see anything with more than four legs, and my instant reaction is to squish it with the nearest squishing implement.
If the creature is particularly massive/hairy/scary-looking, the hairspray can and a lighter homemade flame-thrower comes out to play!
No apologies here. They are creepy. I know people say that spiders are good for your garden because they eat the little beasties that feast on your plants....but they serve no purpose in my house!! So, they are perfectly safe if they stay outside...but once they set foot in my house it's game on.

Flamethrower! Makes me feel better about just smushing them now :L

Emzii you sound like me. GrinGrinGrin

Glad to see most people dont kill them, that's plain cruel and karma will get you!! I have two pet tarantulas, my daughter loves them and I've taught her to respect all creatures small and big. One of my spiders is called Sierra and the other Speedy!

CattyCatCat · 18/06/2015 21:47

Get cats. They kill and eat spiders. I've only sen one small one this year when I would usually see at least 10 big bastards. The cats love them and get to them before I get terrorised.

GoodGirlGoneWrong · 18/06/2015 21:48

Used to love the little things (or big in this house) till I got bitten by a false widow and still 6 months later have a scar and lump! Now I must say I either run the other way or get DH to sort them out or if he is away dc 1 loves them and puts them in the garden for me
