What are the BBC playing at giving the Top Gear job to him?he who is just everywhere lately? I guess his car knowledge is probably huge and I did like him on Dont forget your toothbrush in the 90s etc, but i would love to see someone else have a go. It just annoys me, there must be so many new people hoping for the breaks. It just seems unfair. He is even going to be doing Glastonbury next week too!

Not surprised. The last half hour of the recent TFI Friday special was basically a trailer for 'Chris Evans does Top Gear'. Meh.

While I don't think he's in the same category as Clarkson for twattishness by a long way, in fact not at all, I absolutely can't stand the man so I still won't be watching.

The only thing that disappoints me is that this might mean he gives up the morning show on radio 2 and I like to listen to him on that on my way to work.

He did say at first that he definitely wouldn't do it but I can imagine the BBC have worked pretty hard on him to get him to change his mind since he is the obvious choice. I think he might do OK at it too. He is an experienced enough broadcaster to do it his way rather than trying to mimic the Clarkson style.

Ooh, that's a good point, if he gives up the R2 morning show they might get someone I can listen to.

I love the Breakfast Show on Radio 2, I'd be gutted if he left that. I prefer him on the radio to the tv.

Can't stand Chris Evans, didn't mind Top Gear before but will now actively avoid it. DH can't stand him either so it's unlikely to be on in our house.

I will watch out of curiosity. I liked CE in the 90s-Big Breakfast. Toothbrush and TFI etc.
No point comparing it with what went before. be interesting to see who he gets landed with as co presenters, i get the impression he doesn't suffer fools gladly.

I'm not a fan of his. Something in his voice grates on me. I enjoyed Top Gear but won't be watching now!

Funny you should say that, WeirdCatLady, I had an email 'sweepstake' about who would replace Clarkson, and my top vote for for Jodie Kidd - she's gorgeous, she's a woman and she knows about cars.

Gutted it's not Jodie.
