That the photobooth shots are bad for public image?

It appears it is summer ball time for a number of firms and schools. On my FB wall I have a number of feeds of photobooth shots. This is where the party has hired in a photobooth and groups of party goers take drunken photos.

This to me looks like a fun thing for proms for 16-18 year olds. When it is teachers, doctors, lawyers etc I think it looks very unprofessional.

AIBU to think they shouldn't make the photobooth companies shouldn't make them public on FB and they should have restricted access for the part goers to decide who sees these photos?

Some people are holding a sign saying please don't tag me in FB, but a that won't stop anyone seeing it with public profile or from deciding to tag them.

nobody has to go into a photo booth if they don't want to.

In all likelihood, this is made clear to the people attending before hand. Or even on arrival.

I don't get the reasoning that doctors, teachers, lawyers etc aren't allowed to be seen out having a good time and being drunk though. As long as they aren't doing anything completely inappropriate, like a crotch shot, i don't see why it would be unprofessional. Their job isn't the whole person.

Agree with NRomanoff. Unless they're shown having an orgy, or tits ooooot for the lads I don't see the harm.

What on earth are they doing in the photos that is so wrong? You do realise they are actually doing this in their own free time, you know, off duty?

Fgs they're relaxing and having fun. And teachers fund their own end of term meal/celebration etc. Nothing is paid for by the school, it all comes out of their own pockets.

It would probably be a fast track ticket to a career, judging by most of the lawyers I know.

MrsD - actually with these particular schools I know for fact that it is not funded by the teachers, it is funded by the school from the ticket sales to parents.

A lot of groping and a lot of tongues are involved.

I would say any drunken antic shots should remain private on FB, it just appears because it's in a photobooth its tagged with the company name and public to all.

My company says when on work networking night out which includes team building social events such as balls, we are representing our company and if our behaviour brings the company into a negative light it is a diserplinary (sp?) and no photos are to be made public. So certainly wouldn't have a photobooth there.

Those pesky lawyers and doctors are allowed to have fun occasionally, you know.

I am not saying they can't have fun or do these things. I am saying have them as public images through a third party with the firm or hospital linked all over it does not look good for the professional image.

If OP you're saying that the photo booth company shouldn't publish the photos I'd agree. They should be provided to whoever paid for the booking and then they can decide which if any should be made public.

How do you know how it's funded? Are they state schools? If so then that's a different matter. I've been a teacher for 18 years and never heard of schools funding nights out. Private schools may make there own rules I guess.

The groping and tongues sounds a bit grim. I'm surprised they're tagging the company name. You're right, it's not very professional but then I guess they're not actually at work are they?

Drunken night antics shouldn't be used as marketing of the firm IMO.

They are independent schools. It is seen as building relations with parents as both teachers and parents coming together.

I wouldn't expect a law firm to have drunken night antics on their website. By having the firm name on the photos and the ease of finding stuff on Internet now that's pretty much what they are doing with these photos.

You mean photo booths where they wear wigs, silly glasses...etc? Should companies ban professionals from having photos of them having fun?

To think these people don't drink, don't have fun and don't party is just beyond daft, we're all human.

If they were half naked in a night club puking on the floor maybe, but a few daft pictures?
