To think this is breathtakingly selfish?

Neighbours had a BBQ last night. Shouting and screaming in their garden from 5pm. We went to bed at 10pm, they were being really noisy, had to sleep with our bedroom window shut. This morning at 6.30am they are STILL IN THE GARDEN SHOUTING AND SINGING. When can I tell them to shut up?!

They sound like a group of chimpanzees at a tea party. People have no dignity these days. No idea of how to conduct themselves. Selfish in the extreme Sad

Saturday night, I'd expect quiet after midnight. It's not unreasonable to have a party occasionally.

10pm on weeknights.

My neighbours sons would always have parties that went on well into the early hours everytime their parents went away. I had a baby at the time and dispite asking them to be more considerate they never were and it was a nightmare getting my baby to sleep.
So what I would do is once the party was over would ring the house and let the phone ring everytime I was breast feeding. I knew they were terrified of their mum and would not risk leaving it uncase it was her. I WBU but boy did it feel good to give them some broken sleep too.

So they partied in the garden all through the night? I would have been round complaining from 1am myself. But you now have a perfect opportunity...

It is very reasonable on a Sunday to carry out all those jobs that you don't get time to do in the week. Mowing the lawn, bits of DIY, having lots of fun washing the car. Do you have kids? Surely they would love to play out in the garden all day.

Do you own a chainsaw? Get it out at 9. If not now the lawn whilst you DH hammers the fence and shout instructions to each other.

Send the kids out to play, something loud & screechy. Also invite the noisiest kids from the neighbourhood.
As much noise as you can make with lawn mowers, strimmers, leaf blowers etc (all essential garden maintenance).
Hoover your car.
Borrow a karaoke machine this afternoon?
They will be rotten with a hangover - sounds like it serves them right too. Inconsiderate Gits.

And isn't it a lovely morning for a spot of law-mowing? And perhaps tree-pruning with a big and noisy chainsaw. Totally acceptable to let the DC out to play from 9am. Maybe fill the paddling pool for them and invite some friends to play?

You need to mow the lawn this morning, and then go round to see them to tell them.
I would say that on a weekend you could expect noise up to midnight. The fact that it was going on till 6.30 is not acceptable.
Did they disturb other neighbours as well?

My neighbours did this, loud party and the music didn't stop til 7am. It was awful, but she did apologise. I stored it up for the next time I wanted to have a party Wink

If it is a one off then i would actually just let it go. If it becomes regular, you need to take action.

And yes, it looks like a lovely day to mow the lawn and then invite lots of noisy kids over for some water fights Grin

Our neighbours only know one volume- loud. Everything they do is loud. We are semi detached so attached to them and hear them running around, screaming, shouting, laughing hysterically etc ALL the time. Don't get me wrong- I don't have an issue with people having fun in their own house!! I just find it difficult to believe that life is quite so exhilarating 24/7!

There's just one problem with the 'revenge noise' scenario that so often gets recommended - if there are other close neighbours who were also kept up all night, they may be trying to make up for lost sleep in the morning. Pretty mean to prevent them just because you want payback...
