Accidents Helpline cold calling abuse!

Received a cold call today from Accidents Helpline about an accident I've supposedly had. Only 6 people have our home number and BT. I know none of our immediate family passed our details on so I asked how they had obtained my number.
He refused to answer. Asked again and told him I was TPS registered. Dodged the question again. I asked his name and to speak with his manager. He refused and said "calm down dear".
Patronising litte twat. DP at this point took the phone, told him not to speak to me like that and asked for his name. He was promptly called a motherfu*er and a c*t.
Tried to call back and report him but no joy.
Aibu to want to get the little twerp back next time they phone? Anyone else been spoken to like this?

Can you call the communications regulator (ComReg in Ireland) and report them? Also email AH's customer services department with full details and demand they take action against their employee's disgraceful behaviour?

98percentchocolate · 04/06/2015 22:26

Will definitely try the regulator, thank you. Tried to find accidents helpline details but it isn't the accidents helpline and there seem to be about a hundred companies with that name so it's like looking for a needle in a haystack. Next time I'll get a horn or something.

I had a phone call just like this today, on my mobile, except I was called by a woman (Hannah). She was annoying, but not abusive. I googled the number afterwards, and it seems loads of people have been called all in this last week.

If it is the people who phoned me, they are possibly called "Injury Claim Law"

MyCarHasBrokenDownAgain · 04/06/2015 22:34

I had the same number as ninaaa call me yesterday (possibly also by Hannah, now you mention it)! So annoyed, I was in the middle of a conference else I'd have had my usual fun with em. Managed to get the last one I talked to to tell me to fuck off. Result Grin

Get a phone that you can block callers on. Then smile to yourself whenever you think of him dialling your number to have another go at you only for him to hear a dead tone instead.

ninaaa · 04/06/2015 23:06

It's far more fun to screw with them than to just imagine them not getting through.

Am tempted to do something similar next time Grin

Some company called me about an accident I'd been involved in...in my car. I explained I'd been in no accident, asked who had been in an accident in my car, asked for the details (which apparently they had, but wouldn't divulge) and I go quite hysterical about my car being in an accident I knew nothing about. They couldn't get off the phone quick enough. Wink

When I mentioned TPS woman said well when was the last time I paid for it.. Said erm it's free... No it's not you have to pay... Anyone just take me off your list... Ignored and continued talking about my accident.... Again take me off your list... Still ignored....final time, take me off your list. I am making a legal request. I have not had an accident and this is all being recorded..... Go fuck yourself you stupid f.. I hung up and reported to TPS and the number blocked.

ChanandlerBongsNeighbour · 04/06/2015 23:33

When I politely cut off the "calling about your accident" cold caller mid sentence with a firm but cheery 'no thank you' and pjt the phone down, the cheeky arse actually had the nerve to CALL BACK to abuse me for putting the phone down, questioning my right to do so (was I the house owner/car owner etc) and actually ended the call with a 'shame on you' I just stared stunned at the phone!!

WhatIActuallySaid · 04/06/2015 23:35

Report every single cold call. Obviously it doesn't work if they have hidden their caller ID.

Report every spam text or cold call or text to the Information Commissioners Office ONLINE report form HERE it only takes a minute or two.

I've got a TrueCall unit, I almost miss the cold callers I could have fun with!

I've had an accident? When? Was I badly hurt? Etc

Asking the fake Microsoft Support cold callers which computer was reporting the problems was great, I managed to get them to hang up on me. They removed me from their calling list after that, spoilsports. Grin

OP, they may not have got your number from anywhere, a lot of the call centres use autodialers which pick an area code and dial numbers sequentially.
