To think these beds should last longer

I bought bunk beds a couple of years ago for my 2 sons, for about £400 just for the frame. They have fallen apart tonight, unfixable without replacement parts, huge flat pack job that took 5 hours to build and will have to come apart completely to rebuild.

Fuck my life.

Aw. Bless you.

Give them a stinking review on a website.

Won't help, but might make you feel better!

cleanmyhouse · 26/05/2015 23:14

I went and had a look at reviews. Everyone raves about them.

That's insane. My DCs bunks are cheap (half what you paid) and have lasted 6 years and counting. Only issue we have is slight paint chipping I could probably fix tbh. I would be going insane at the manufacturer.

BlackeyedSusan · 26/05/2015 23:15

which part broke?

are they wooden or metal frames??

YsabellStoHelit · 26/05/2015 23:15

Are they damaged to make them unsafe? Hope its sorted fast.

cleanmyhouse · 26/05/2015 23:21

they're made out of something called particle board.

They're on mattresses on the floor for the forseeable.

YANBU. They should last much longer. My gran bought my brother and I bunkbeds which could convert into to two beds 22 years ago, and at least one half was still in use a year ago. They weren't even that expemsive. Call the company.

cleanmyhouse · 26/05/2015 23:29

I've emailed the company i bought them from and the manufacturer. I expect to be told that children wreck beds.

Well i never.

Manufacturers called." Yes the beds should certainly last longer, please send photos of damage so we can figure out whether to send out technicians or replace completely"

"I'm concerned about moving the beds and causing further damage when getting photos"

"Don't be, any further damage is not your fault"

I'm speechless.

Wow, that's brilliant customer seservice.
Where was it you bought the beds op?

NeedsAsockamnesty · 27/05/2015 12:59

Can we have the name of this company.

I'm looking to replace a set of 45yo bunk beds and like to buy from places with good customer service

Fatmomma99 · 27/05/2015 13:06

What a fantastic result. I'm so pleased for you.

slanleat · 27/05/2015 14:05

Great result! Isn't it nice when it turns out this way.

cleanmyhouse · 27/05/2015 15:00

I'm not counting my chickens just yet.

They were originally from rooms4kidz, but the manufacturer was julian bowen. Both offered excellent customer service.

Unlike bensons who were about as shit as you can get. And then some.

OP posts:
YsabellStoHelit · 27/05/2015 15:15

Sounds promising hope they sort it quick.

Spydra · 27/05/2015 16:15

Julian Bowen made my bed - just over 3 years ago. They seem a decent company with a good service ethos. Keep going on at them!

cleanmyhouse · 27/05/2015 16:35

So far so good. I just don't want to get too excited then let down. I had a nightmare with the previous beds i got from bensons.

OP posts:
cleanmyhouse · 01/06/2015 13:57

Well i never. I sent photos and the guy has emailed me back today to say that he has recommended i get a full replacement and will get back to me once it is authorised.

OP posts:
CloserToFiftyThanTwenty · 01/06/2015 14:14

We had some great beds from Julian Bowen too

cleanmyhouse · 01/06/2015 14:28

They were great, they just haven't lasted

OP posts:
cleanmyhouse · 04/06/2015 22:37

Oh FFS. I Was right not to count my chickens. After telling me on monday he was recommending a replacement, he never got back to me. After i chased him up he said i couldn't get a replacement and would have to pay for replacement parts.

Nope. I won't pay more money into a bed that fell in shit after a couple of years.
