Are all changes due to cancer

OP posts:
Foffyouwanker · 24/05/2015 19:42

No, I've had 3 removed due to itching/growth and no problems or cancer

SnotQueen · 24/05/2015 19:43

I've had a few changed moles removed - non cancerous.

WorraLiberty · 24/05/2015 19:43

I have one on the side of my breast that used to be flat and smooth (the mole - not my breast!)

Then it became rough, itchy and oozed yellow pus (TMI)

I was shitting myself when I went to the doc but she looked at it and said it was fine.

Told me to put cream on to stop the itching and leave it alone.

That was about 5yrs ago and it's been fine ever since.

DesertIslandPenguin · 24/05/2015 19:43

Nope. I had a mole that grew and the consultant was 99% sure it wasn't cancer but I agreed to have it removed just in case. Totally benign. I also had a mole appear and grow rapidly on one ear which was benign once removed and biopsied. Very unusual for me as I have black skin, but not unheard of.

Hope it all turns out well.

GiddyOnZackHunt · 24/05/2015 19:44

My itchy changed mole wasn't cancerous.

Springintosummer · 24/05/2015 19:49

Yep, I have had a few removed as they were growing and causing an irritation due to their location. They were sent of to lab just to make sure and they were not cancer.

LilQueenie · 24/05/2015 19:50

I ripped a mole off by accident it reattached itself and had scarring. It was really big and I had it removed along with another. both benign. Ive had loads others checked when they changed but all have been fine.

Fluffcake · 24/05/2015 19:50

I had a mole go very dry and scabby and kept bleeding. Had it removed, tests came back noncancerous. My sister recently had a dodgy looking mole and visited her GP who told her it was fine. Go see your GP if unsure.

pootlebug · 24/05/2015 19:51

Yes, several. I had one that was itchy and blotchy a few weeks ago - have been referred for potential removal next week but tbh has stopped itching now and feels/looks fine again.

besttalk · 24/05/2015 19:51

I have one on leg that changed from a solid colour to spotty, also became an itchy little bastars and quite rough.

Went to the doctors and he said it was fine and gave me some cream for the itching . this was about 6 months ago.

crustsaway · 24/05/2015 19:54

Yes mine have changed and nothing wrong but ALWAYS get them checked.

YellowTulips · 24/05/2015 19:54

My DH did. One on his back that went all lumpy and grew. We were both convinced it would be something nasty, but he had it removed and it was benign.

bumbleymummy · 24/05/2015 19:54

Yep. Apparently they can change during pregnancy - hormones etc.

Tillyscoutsmum · 24/05/2015 19:54

Yes. I've had 4 removed due to changes. All non cancerous

mousmous · 24/05/2015 19:56

I've had a couple suspicious ones removed that turned out fine.

MrsTedCrilly · 24/05/2015 20:01

No, we've had a few turn black and they've been fine Smile

GobblersKnob · 24/05/2015 20:04

I've had lots change in odd ways including; shape, size, colour, itching and bleeding, none has ever signified anything serious, but I always get them checked out, I have a LOT of moles though, dd counted 58 on just one arm yesterday WinkGrin

If you have noticed a change please get it checked regardless of how many people tell you reassuring stories, chances are it is absolutely nothing, but if it is, the sooner treated the better.

dietcokeandwine · 24/05/2015 20:57

Definitely get them checked but don't assume mole changes automatically mean cancer.

I am prone to moles and have had several removed over the years, some I have had from childhood and others that grew later in life, all have been fine. Have also had some that changed shape/texture etc and all were fine but again-I always got them checked by a doctor.

OhWotIsItThisTime · 24/05/2015 21:16

Had one grow and grow on my chest. Had it removed and it was benign. Got another one that has irregular edges and is rough - mole doctor said it was fine.

Go to your gp. It's no big deal and you'll know either way.

MomOfTwoGirls2 · 24/05/2015 21:41

Definitely go to GP and get it checked. I've had several removed, one just last week. So far so good. But let the experts decide. And you will sleep better after getting it checked out.

PinkParsnips · 24/05/2015 21:48

I've got LOTS of moles and I've had a few removed due to itching/scabbing but none were cancerous.

Do get them checked if you've any worries at all, quite a few of mine grew during pregnancy and I was at the hospital getting them checked last week. Funnily enough all the ones I was concerned about are fine and 3 that I wasn't worried about are being monitored / removed but the dermatologist said they will probably come back as mild changes and not cancerous (fingers crossed).

sunniest · 24/05/2015 22:15

I had one turn black that was removed but benign. Another had grown and was an irregular shape but was checked at hospital and fine.

HappyMeerkat · 24/05/2015 22:20

No i had a mole removed about 6 months ago as my mum had skin cancer, and she noticed a mole on my arm had changed colour and raised a little bit, i went to the doctor he said it wasn't cancerous and said i could have it removed (i have health anxiety) so i did and it looks worse than it did before but its gone and i got a letter i wasn't expecting which told me it wasn't cancerous

Hassled · 24/05/2015 22:23

I've had two dodgy looking ones taken off my back - both absolutely fine.

But you always need to get these things checked. Get yourself to the GP.

MrsMcColl · 24/05/2015 22:32

I had one below my breast that got bigger and itches - I feared the worst, but all fine.
