...without a whole load of salt in it? I saw salted caramel cookies, salted caramel cake, salted caramel chocolate, it's everywhere!

Mars bars

OK you get all the other deliciousness around it. But yes, Mars bars.

IvyWall · 19/05/2015 19:50

I had some salted milk chocolate yesterday. Green and blacks. I won't be trying it again. Good chocolate ruined

googoodolly · 19/05/2015 19:51

Caramel dairy milk or caramel galaxy?

TheMoa · 19/05/2015 19:51

Well.... We buy tins of condensed caramel stuff, but it's Nestle, so practically the Devil's spawn according to some.

Unbelievably good on caramel tart with sprinkles, primary school pudding style though Grin.

Really, the salt is negligible in the things you mention. If you are going to indulge, you ought to make the best of it!

TiggyD · 19/05/2015 19:53

Chocolate and caramel are SWEET things. They do not go with savoury.

You don't cover ice cream in chutney, or put custard on chicken kievs.

And if anybody suggests pineapple on pizzas they can fuck off right now!

Who the fuck puts salt in caramel Hmm

TiggyD · 19/05/2015 19:55

I think Waitrose started it.

sweet and sour?
Salt and sweet
hot and sweet
all perfectly legitimate. When you say caramel what are you after? The horrors of werthers? Gooey stuff (cadbury's caramel filling)? Or something more toffee like?

usualsuspect333 · 19/05/2015 20:01

Salt has no place in caramel.

GilbertBlytheWouldGetIt · 19/05/2015 20:08

Mango chutney is sweet though, and you have that with poppadoms.

YouTheCat · 19/05/2015 20:11

I don't know. I misread the OP as 'camel'. Grin

TiggyD · 19/05/2015 20:20

Salty camels are even worse.

I fucking love pineapple on pizzas, maple syrup on bacon. Not had chocolate covered bacon but I'd be willing to give it a go.

Salted caramel isn't all that salty in my experience, I quite like that too. What do you want the caramel for? You can make it yourself very easily with condensed milk, butter and golden syrup.

IvyWall · 19/05/2015 20:27

Last time my Dh was in Las Vegas he brought back some chocolate with bacon in it

That was weird

Cheby · 19/05/2015 20:28

Salt all the caramel and chocolate, I love it!
Also love fruit chutneys with cheese and meat and pineapple on pizza.

iklboo · 19/05/2015 20:28

I'll gladly accept all donations of salted caramel.

I'm VERY weird. I like peanut butter & jam sandwiches - with a chunk of chilli cheese on the side. Bite of sandwich, bite of cheese - repeat.

Waitress sells Bonne Mamas caramel du leche which is just a jar full of delicious non-salty caramel. Banoffie pie. Mmmmmmm.

FishWithABicycle · 19/05/2015 20:41

Waitrose darn autocorrect

agoodbook · 19/05/2015 20:51

Tunnocks caramel wafers! A favourite from my childhood ( a long time ago....) You can still get them :)

MakeHayIsOrange · 19/05/2015 20:54

I live salted caramel. But then I also love bovril spread onto soreen malt loaf, so what do my taste buds know about anything....

MakeHayIsOrange · 19/05/2015 20:55

Love it, not live it. That might be a bit OTT.
