To be unable to cope with waking any time between 3 and 5?

I hate it.

I think Thursday (Friday really) was the tops - woke at 3:45. Mostly it's around 4:30-5:30.

Then the baby wakes at 6.

I have black out blinds. Why the actual F do I keep waking at stupid o clock? I'm barely functioning at the moment.

Has anyone experienced this?

I've been like this for a few weeks and its driving me nuts.

Cliffdiver · 17/05/2015 06:59

Yes, it's horrible!

I wear an eye mask to bed, which helps. To get myself back to sleep I have a cup of warm milk and read my kindle laying down in bed, which usually works.

fiveacres · 17/05/2015 07:04

Problem is, by the time I am ready to drop back off I have to get up for the baby!

Yes I'm the same really really frustrating except ds wakes 5-5.30. Working a full day when I've been awake since 3.30 is incredibly exhausting. I'm getting used to it but hate that I am. Reading book not on phone does often help. Dh advice just close your eyes and go back to sleep does not!

I sometimes go through weeks of this pattern. Just at the tag end of one now, slept till 5:45 yay me!

What I find helps: plenty of exercise and sunlight on skin during the day. No screen time immediately before sleep (I try to read for half an hour before lights out, having the radio on when I settle down (prevents my thoughts from wandering into areas of worry and I have a radio which switches itself off after a 30 mins)

Keep a Thermos of warm milk next to bed so you don't have to faff around going downstairs making it?

Are you BFing? If not try something like Kalms?

Cliffdiver · 17/05/2015 07:10

You could also try setting an alarm for 2am to try and reset your sleep pattern?

fiveacres · 17/05/2015 07:15

I think I'd be awake from 2 onwards if I did that, honestly. Am pregnant so can't take anything!

I can't work out if I'm depressed so I keep waking up or I'm depressed because I keep waking up!

I feel your pain OP . I'm pregnant, 29+1, and DH has just started a new job meaning he gets up at 4am. I wake up and that's it. No chance of getting back to sleep. Until 6.30 when I fall into a deep sleep only to feel terrible when my alarm goes off.

TimeforaDietCoke · 17/05/2015 08:26

Me too! I'm 27 weeks pregnant and often wake at 3.30 or 4. I'm just ready to go off to sleep then the alarm goes off at 6 for work! I feel your pain!

foxtrotcharlie · 17/05/2015 08:47

Just sharing the pregnancy insomnia. Had it with previous one too. Wide awake from 2-4 most nights. Can't wait to give birth to get more sleep! Smile

Szeli · 17/05/2015 22:32

DS is 2.1 now and I have woke at 4am since I was pregnant. Annoyingly used to it now but very tired.
How about resetting babies sleep pattern? DS used to wake between 5 and 6 but we treated it as a night feed and put him back down so generally now he's a 9/10am riser and always has been. Those extra 3 hours were/are well needed

IAmAShitHotLawyer · 17/05/2015 22:46

Is your bladder waking you? Could you try drinking less in the evenings?

Daffodilliesanddaisies · 18/05/2015 06:28

I'm pregnant too and suffering from this, it can be anytime from 2am but usually it's more 5am which means I don't get to sleep before my alarm goes off. Sometimes it's my bladder and sometimes it's not.
