....the Conservative Government intend to abolish all forms of welfare so they can use the money to purchase 331 bulldozers so each MP can personally knock down all our hospitals tonight. And other alarmist stuff.

OP posts:
NRomanoff · 08/05/2015 19:24

Yep!!!

Andrea Jenkyns has just passed her house in hers. Wink

DinkeyMoo · 08/05/2015 19:27

YANBU. I'm done with mumsnet for now. I cannot believe the judgmental, narrow minded, naive, sensationalist and downright fucking rude comments being posted on here and chat towards Tory voters. Seriously, pull yourselves together and get a grip!! If the comments represent on here are a good representation of the labour supporters as a whole, I'm more glad then ever they lost.

PausingFlatly · 08/05/2015 19:29

To be fair, the Tories did pledge to cut £12bn from welfare spending after the election, in addition to the IIRC £25bn directly cut already and the indirect cuts via services to the disabled and elderly.

But you're right, it's alarmist to say they'll go after hospitals after the election.

They already passed that bill before the election.

PausingFlatly · 08/05/2015 19:30

If it makes you feel any better, DinkeyMoo, Labour were planning some cuts as well and were right behind the NHS privatisation: they skinned it, the coalition cooked it.

Nolim · 08/05/2015 19:30

Yanbu

atomich01 · 08/05/2015 19:32

I think the NHS was cooked regardless who got in :(

Bodyinpyjamas10 · 08/05/2015 19:33

If the daily mail is full of hysterical bollocks then yes op you may have a point.

Stratter5 · 08/05/2015 19:34

Lol Pausing

Then there's this, didn't take them long, did it. Mere hours, in fact.

Hopefully, everyone will sign this and stop another nail in the NHS coffin.

GobbolinoCat · 08/05/2015 19:37

If the daily mail is full of hysterical bollocks then yes op you may have a point The Guardian has healthy dose of sensationalist bollocks too.

SandBarIsland · 08/05/2015 19:37

Actually, this was not meant to be a post about either the Conservatives or Labour, or party politics, but about a multitude of posts today that just like the papers serve to deliver spin and fear. Heaven knows how many well meaning posters, with genuine concern about welfare, have been whipped up into a frenzy by many not so well meaning posters.

OP posts:
Bodyinpyjamas10 · 08/05/2015 19:39

Yes Gobb agree with you on that one.

Stratter5 · 08/05/2015 19:40

I've been out all day, so missed all the hysteria.

Tbf, I think we were fucked whether it was Tory or Labour, I see very little real difference in them. Both out to line their own pockets by stealing from the most vulnerable

SandBarIsland · 08/05/2015 19:40

Yes Stratten a paper someone at the DWP produced, sent to the Independent, who gave it some spin.

Gobbolino yes - see my other posts on the Guardian alarmist article about SMP. They would have us believe Cameron has got it done and dusted.

OP posts:
Figster · 08/05/2015 19:41

Yanbu ridiculous generalisations and accusations flying around what happened to respecting others views?

glenthebattleostrich · 08/05/2015 19:43

Nope my neighbours cat told me that every Tory voter is going to get a poor person allocated to them to kick when they are having a bad day and poor children won't be allowed to go to school unless they've done 17 hours workfare each day

And they are going to eat old people ....

I could write for the guardian / daily mail / whichever rag is spouting the most bollox on any given day.

Must step away from MN now, before more wine is consumed.

Sparklingbrook · 08/05/2015 19:44

I think the Election Thread quota has been met and is now exceeded.

SandBarIsland · 08/05/2015 19:47

glenthebattleostrich is that serious?!?!? Shock

You must be wrong surely. That sounds to me like a total pack of fabricated lies. You must think I am stupid. Even I know that cat's cannot talk.

OP posts:
glittertits · 08/05/2015 19:49

I think the NHS was cooked regardless who got in

Yep.

DinkeyMoo · 08/05/2015 19:50

Well stratter you do a good job adding to the hysteria with your link.

I don't know why I'm even arguing this point but - The DWP are considering capping the Access to Work scheme. considering and capping being the key words - not 'definitely cutting'. And from the report the emphasis is on continuing to help disabled people into work. They even state over the last 5 years The funding for it has increased significantly.

SlightlyJaded · 08/05/2015 19:50

Regardless of your political leanings, the bile and vitriol on here today is pretty grim. And it is also true to say that Tory Bashing seems to be fair game across all Social Media.

I am not surprised at the quiet stealth with which they won. Tories have to be far less vocal about supporting their party of choice because any suggestion of support attracts a barrage of abuse.

FWIW I DID NOT vote conservative, but have done in the past. I have also voted Libdem and Labour as feel no allegiance to any of them and generally vote based on specific policies/leaders at the time, but I do despise the way that die-hard Labour supporters assume a moral high ground (rightly or wrongly) to the degree where they can be so abusive.

fuckthetaps · 08/05/2015 19:58

That article was on bbc website in march

NRomanoff · 08/05/2015 19:59

Its been like this for a few days. The best one was the 'Labour to introduce 50% income tax for 40k household income' posted by a 'Labour' voter (who was a regular poster) who claimed it was all anyone could talk about in Westminster.

She obviously couldn't link because she was on a phone Hmm and it wasn't true.

Jackieharris · 08/05/2015 20:03

Yes it's especially bunfighty today.

fairgame · 08/05/2015 20:11

YANBU
One poster today has basically said they will get rid of every single benefit. Its complete hysteria and scaremongering. It's not doing anybody any favours as the election is over so nothing can change now. I didn't vote Labour or Tory and i am dependent on certain benefits due to a disabled child and a low paid job but some things i've seen on here today are absolutely ridiculous.

marie637394 · 08/05/2015 20:15

Yanbu labour privatised more of the NHS and the debt has doubled in Tories time, so they are not really cutting back at all.
