To go back to bed until school pick up?

Just back from Dr and have a nasty UTI. I've had it for a while but put off going to gp until it got bad.

I feel absolutely EXHAUSTED. I've walked the dogs, done all housework, etc. - but I feel guilty at going to bed until 4pm! It's because I have no fever so I don't think of myself as "properly ill"

AIBU???? And just a wimp? :)

AIBU????

Do it! I'm working from home as feeling poorly and I'm half tempted to do the same. I'm not focusing and so not getting anything much done.

magimedi · 05/05/2015 12:36

Go to bed - take a nice hot water bottle with you & get some rest.

UTIs are vile and don't put off treatment again - they can get quite serious if you delay.

Enjoy a snooze.

googoodolly · 05/05/2015 12:36

Ah, do it! You'll feel better for it and I'm sure your kids would rather have a slightly rested parent than an irritable sore one!

Hope you feel better, UTI's are awful. Flowers

Yes do it - i am just running the bath and then i will be doing exactly the same - i feel awful! Hope you are feeling better soon

Ive had a relentless few years with babies in quick succession with lots of sleep deprivation.

The first few days when they are all finally in full time education - thats what Im going to do. Go to bed all day to recover.

morethanpotatoprints · 05/05/2015 12:42

if you are ill there's nothing wrong with going to bed while dc are at school.
I can remember many a winter time full of cold or flu and going to bed after the school run.
You will be better able to cope when they come home.
Hope you feel better soon Thanks

Hoppinggreen · 05/05/2015 12:46

Why wouldn't you?

Bowerby · 05/05/2015 12:46

Ah thanks everyone! I feel a little less guilty now!

Get well wishes to those that need them ThanksBrew

This year I've got several UTIs and I'm not sure why (possibly increased sex but that's not going to stop - the practice nurse said to go tot he doctor if it keeps happening.)

I'm exhausted (hence clicking on the thread) but no symptons currently as on day 2 of antibiotics. Thanks for the reminder I'm ill! like you without a fever or copious snot/vomit it feels a bit funny to be feelign quite SO exhausted.

Apparently NHS advice is to try several days wtih the sachets to ease discomfort so dont rush to the doctor, but after 4-5 days if its stillt here to go for antibiotics. They do sometimes go away, and you dont want to keep taking ABS, but if they dont go away by themselves ABs can stop it progressing to something worse.

BigBirthdayGloom · 05/05/2015 12:53

I am currently doing exactly the same as you. Dd has been poorly and I am exhausted to the point of not being able to speak nicely to each other. However, even if you weren't ill or exhausted, if you chose to use free time having a delicious nap, then good for you.

FannyPlant · 05/05/2015 12:56

Do it. I'm back in bed!

Stripyhoglets · 05/05/2015 13:00

Why would you feel guilty? I don't even do the housework when I feel ill. Just go to bed after the school run until it's time to collect them.

Humansatnav · 05/05/2015 13:13

Off to bed with you - you need your rest to get better.

Adarajames · 05/05/2015 13:28

Do it! I didn't rest when ill for years, pushing through it, and been disabled by ME as a result for last 19 years or so Sad so go rest as much as you can Flowers
