To think being a celebrity must suck?

I was out somewhere yesterday, and saw a recently widowed celebrity and his young family hounded by people wanting autographs/photos. What the fuck is wrong with people?

The money would be nice, but if that's what being famous involves you can keep it. Poor man, and poor kids.

I never understand why people want to be famous, I think it would be horrendous to have no privacy or anonymity.

I can understand wanting to be successful in a particular field (sport, music etc) that brings with it celebrity. Or to be wealthy. But to actual want fame itself - I don't understand it. Do you think many famous people actually enjoy the fame aspect of their celebrity?

I've no idea. I remember serving Frank Bruno in a restaurant a few times in the 90's, and he always left a hefty tip if you kept people away while he and his family ate, then he would sign autographs etc when they were finished, but you'd always get the odd tosser that thought it was acceptable to interrupt the meal because they were leaving etc.

Same restaurant, Dean Gaffney came in demanding to get a table right now. Even said 'do you know who I am?' So I guess some of them must enjoy it.

Yesterday was just awful though. Massive crowd of people jostling trying to get pics etc, he looked on the verge of tears and the kids looked terrified.

People can be fucking awful.

Was looking at the pics of celebs at the met gala evening. There are some really miserable faces there.

Do their agents tell them they must attend ...or else?

J-lo has a face that looks like it will turn the milk sour, although that's understandable in that horrible dress that just makes her look cheap.

By comparison we had a lovely night out at a quiz with friends. Plenty of laughs and won a bottle of wine.

I much prefer my life over theirs any day.

When I was a child/teenager I wanted to be a famous actress when I grew up (need for attention/naivety probably). Now I would hate to not be able to go out in public and have everyone know about my personal life. I'm sure the money's nice, but there are plenty of other ways to get rich. It makes me wonder how many child/teen or even young adult stars now regret becoming famous at an early age.

Never understand why people would think it OK to interrupt a family meal, even more so when the family are suffering.
