to feel a bit sorry for Kate Middleton?

less than 12 hours after giving birth, she's sent home from hospital, which is totally normal, but within the time frame of giving birth and leaving the hospital, she's quite obviously had a team of stylists giving her a wash and blow, doing her makeup, getting her a lovely dress to wear etc etc. to then be papped by God knows how many photographers.

aibu to think that even though she's royal and all she should have been able to slip out the back in her converse and sweat pants and mellowed in post labour soreness.

Probably a small price to pay for a couple of months of relative peace, but yeah, I know what you mean.

Wheelerdeeler · 02/05/2015 19:58

Nope. She pursued that life.

PlummyBrummy · 02/05/2015 19:58

YADNBU - I'm about to give birth myself and the thought of having to waltz out of hospital looking fahhbulous gives me cold shivers...

JaniceJoplin · 02/05/2015 19:59

You could see it in her eyes. Only just though.

OttiliaVonBCup · 02/05/2015 20:00

No.

RavioliOnToast · 02/05/2015 20:00

I just remember how 'blergh' i felt after having both my dds, standing up and walking a little bit made me feel queasy and I didn't have stiches with either so goodness knows how uncomfortable that must be aswell (don't know if she had stiches though)

She didn't 'pursue that life' - she met a man and fell in love. He just happened to be the future King. Don't be so cynical Wheeler !

Charlotte3333 · 02/05/2015 20:01

If they'd not posed in front of the press like that, surely the papers would've gone mad trying to chase the first snap of their baby and potentially made their lives very difficult? At least this way they get to go home, chuck on pyjamas and have some peace knowing the press has what it wants, the public has what it wants and nobody's going to go chasing them at breakneck speed risking lives all for a photograph.

It does seem a hard bargain, but if I was her it's the option I'd choose, certainly.

Essexgirlupnorth · 02/05/2015 20:01

Yes a bit but she is going home to a nanny and a maternity nurse. Plus no cleaning or cooking which most new mums don't have the luxury off.

Rivercam · 02/05/2015 20:01

I thought she looked more relaxed and at ease then before. Hopefully, she can relax and enjoy the young princess now.

RavioliOnToast · 02/05/2015 20:02

I suppose, but then surely the press should fuck off for a day or two at least?

OP posts:
squoosh · 02/05/2015 20:03

She looked like she was enjoying herself to me.

TheNumberfaker · 02/05/2015 20:03

Yabu. She knew exactly what she was getting into!

RavioliOnToast · 02/05/2015 20:05

hadn't noticed that thread Auntie

I thought the same as the op at lunch time when I heard the hair stylist had arrived. Ffs.

Mumoftwoyoungkids · 02/05/2015 20:05

It must be rubbish. But I guess she could have stayed in longer if she wanted. And it's probably a bit better staffed than my local hospital.

usualsuspect333 · 02/05/2015 20:07

She's going home to be pampered and looked after. She has no money worries. She is incredibly privileged.

So no I don't feel sorry for her.

Vivacia · 02/05/2015 20:07

I'm not really a Royal watcher, but in one article it mentioned her maternity leave. Does anyone know from what job?

Vivacia · 02/05/2015 20:09

And presumably she's not called Middleton now?

Also, it annoys me when american writers refer to her as Duchess Katherine.

Chippednailvarnish · 02/05/2015 20:09

My heart bleeds for her Hmm

As I said on another thread, she's had the best education money can buy, but never even had a full time job. Her life is soooo awful.

squoosh · 02/05/2015 20:10

Maternity leave from being a ribbon cutting, bouquet receiving, Royal I think Vivacia.

GinPleaseThankYou · 02/05/2015 20:13

I wouldn't want her life.

I do not pity or envy her.

SirSpamalot · 02/05/2015 20:14

Yabu. She knew exactly what she was getting into!

The number of times I heard that when feeling a bit sad/worried that my husband was deployed to a war zone.

It's utter bollocks, of course. You can't 'know' until you're there.

SoupDragon · 02/05/2015 20:16

They are playing the game. They have posed like this, all polished, so that the press leave them alone. Give and take.
