To swap cream tops?

For some reason, M&S organic cream doesn't come with a plastic lid. I prefer to buy organic cream and I never use it all up in one go, so I'd like to have a plastic top to put on the half-used tub in the fridge. Therefore have started taking a top off a tub of non-organic cream and putting it on mine before I buy it. I feel M&S are a bit U not to put a lid on the cream, but I would like to know what others think.

I'd ask M& S why they do this, rather than deprive some other poor shopper of a lid.

You are right and I will do so! I'm hoping it's not because they think organic buyers ought to be more environmentally friendly re packaging. I do recycle, obviously.

Why don't you use keep a plastic lid and reuse it?

That's where I am actually being U I suppose. I am annoyed that the other cream buyers get a new lid every time, and I'm paying more for my cream, so I don't want to reuse a lid! I could, but I'd be doing it grudgingly.

But the best way to recycle would be for you to use it again rather than it being processed and turned into a new lid.

Then I think you are entitled to have a lid, if the shop provide them. Would point the disparity out to customer services, though.

I could see where you were coming from until you being annoyed at other people getting a new lid everytime.

Of this bothers you, complain. But don't be surprised if they stop putting kids on them all.

Why don't you just decant it into another airtight container?

I'm going to contact customer services and in the meantime keep my current lid and reuse it.

YABU. The lids are a waste of plastic and can't go in my recycling. I was pleased to buy lidless cream the other day.

Eh? Why on earth don't you want to reuse a lid? What would be the harm?

I usually buy lidless cream and hardly ever use all of it at once, the top is foily anyway so you can bend the flap back over the lip of the tub to secure it in place, it's not airtight of course, but if kept upright keeps it just as fresh that way.

Perhaps m n s feel the extra plastic used in a lid is not in keeping with an organically minded persons shopping habits.
