Just seen it. Really liked it, but what is it about near the end where they ski in the fog and she gets left behind and then he "rescues" her?

Does it invalidate all the rest?

I have no clue as to what you're on about. But just wanted to wave.

I saw it last week and was massively dissapointed.

Your scene I think, was her 'testing' him to see if he would come rushing to her aid? I can't think of any thing else it could be?

Hullygully · 29/04/2015 22:34

Yes, or them showing the kids he wasn't an utter tosspost?

I liked the rest. I loved the scene with the slightly drunk girl saying her mate thought him the most handsome guy in the bar..oh no, she'd made a mistake...

It was a scenario the parents cooked up so he could redeem himself in the eyes of the kids. Love the way they leave the camera rolling for 20 seconds longer than you expect - a Hollywood film would cut at the climax when he carries her out of the fog. But we get to see the anticlimax where she brushes the snow off and has to wander off to retrieve her skis. It kind of reveals the whole scene - and the whole concept of the man as hero - as a bit fraudulent. Such a great movie.

Ok, but what about the very end where she freaks out on the bus and they all get off and walk down the hill? Why? What does that mean? I totally followed the whole thing until that point.

I loved this film because there is so much to discuss! We spent hours in the pub chatting about different parts of it with people who hadnt seen it yet but just had the gist explained to them. I thought the ending where she got off the bus (without the kids initially) was about her losing it. The final scene shows him walking ljke a pack leader with chest out being a strong family man. Just my take!

I thought it spoilt it that she agreed with him to do a fake hero scene.

I thought the bit at the end where he had a fag and said "Yes I do smoke" to his son was him owning up to who he was?
