Posts from political parties

Prompted by the early disappearance of the thread from the OP complaining that her UKIP poster had been defaced. The reason for zapping the thread wasn't given, but I suspect a few people who pointed out that there has been a sudden surge of posters desperately keen on UKIP may well have put their finger on it. I'm curious to know whether that is MN's perception and whether there has been any similar surge from supporters of other parties?

I think that the main political parties don't bother with trying to stir up a fanbase on Mumsnet.

But minor political parties like that fathers rights group and Ukip most likely do.

This is due in part to the disinhibition effect where people share more because it's anonymous.

It's the same with far right groups that have always met in secret.

In real life I have never met a Ukipper and since they only get a tiny percentage of the vote I would think that's normal.

I agree with you and not just political parties: quite often, I read a post that I think has probably been posted by some focus group, agent or other.

I bet that politicians or their advisors do read these forums though. Just to see the reaction to policies.

I would. And then I would realise that some of the policy ideas are bollocks.

I'm intrigued as to whether MN has sussed out the IP addresses of the main parties. Though I suppose it wouldn't be difficult to get people to post from their home computers.
