Since they increased the price of tickets, we never win anymore. We play online and haven't won a thing. Before that, it used to be about £10 every 3 months.

I don't do betting. However, I have heard friends suggesting the odds for online cards are lower than shop bought ones.

flora717 · 26/04/2015 00:07

I mean higher i think. Sorry. That winning with cards is less likely online.

Twistedheartache · 26/04/2015 00:10

Yes 4 numbers on weds but that was my first win since September. Don't play every week but even so definitely used to win £10 more often

RedCheckedTablecloth · 26/04/2015 00:21

When DH and I got married we were both poor students with friends in the same boat or with young families etc.

We asked for a scratch card for a wedding present rather than a gift. We thought that the guests would spend a pound and if we won something then great if not they only spent a pound.

There were 65 guests at our wedding.

We were astonished at our friends and family generosity. We were inundated with over 500 scratch cards.

We won £74.

Never bought one since.

FirstWeTakeManhattan · 26/04/2015 00:25

We only buy the odd ticket when I think about it, so maybe 10 per year or something. We did used to win more frequently though, come to think about it. Never crossed my mind, but before the tickets changed, we would win now and again (tenners mainly but the odd 'bigger' win).

We buy the same number of tickets, so wonder what that's about then?

Tutt · 26/04/2015 00:38

In a syndicate at work (about 10 of us) and before the rise we'd win a tenner every week/fortnight.
We haven't had a penny since they went up!

minibmw2010 · 26/04/2015 10:30

I had 4 numbers last night and won £60. Haven't won any for ages. 5 numbers would have got me about £250, 5 and a bonus £25k and 6 numbers about £6m. So close .... Grin

NettleTea · 26/04/2015 10:47

I think they have changed how the payouts are worked out too - Its always been low for 3 numbers, but I seem to recall that 5 numbers gave you a fair wodge. Also havent they stopped the rollovers carrying on and on - now it can only roll a set number of times and then they keep the jackpot and start again..... (I could be wrong though)

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 26/04/2015 10:49

I win a few quid every know and again. I won 25 quid , which it most I've ever won on the lotto.

VacantExpression · 26/04/2015 10:52

Its only ever been able to roll over three times Nettle. I very rarely win anything on lotto but don't play every draw. I have more luck with thunderball (still £1 so less of a hit too) and am quite lucky on scratchcards. Never going to be a millionaire on either of those though.

I sound like a right gambler, I'm not, honest!

temporarilyjerry · 26/04/2015 11:25

I am the same as you, OP.

I buy a ticket for 8 weeks and, before the price went up, I would usually win £10 on each ticket (i.e. once in 8 weeks). Since they went up, I haven't won a bean. Sad

bette06 · 26/04/2015 11:33

Statistically though, surely it's just a likely that your six numbers will be picked as it's ever been - although the amounts you would win might have changed.

I won 3 quid on the Thunderball this week - Haven't decided how I'm going to spend it all yet! Wink

mandy214 · 26/04/2015 11:41

Yes the odds of your numbers coming up are exactly the same. The payouts might be different though.

GooodMythicalMorning · 26/04/2015 11:42

Nothing recently. Hate it being £2 now. I play it less though now it's more expensive.

CaptainAnkles · 26/04/2015 11:45

I very rarely bother with actual lotto tickets but I do alright buying scratchcards instead.

notsmartenough · 26/04/2015 11:45

I play the lotto and the Euromillions by direct debit and am usually quite excited to receive the email - 'news about your ticket!' and disappointed when it is £2.60 or thereabouts.
This month I won £25 on the lotto.
Also, in the Euro draw, I had 4 out of the 5 numbers plus 1 of the 2 star numbers. My winnings were £144.

stupidgreatgrinonmyface · 26/04/2015 11:54

In the last few months since the price increase, we have won about five times - mostly £25 but one payout of over £100 for four numbers. That is more than we had won since the lottery began. Not sure how the price increase can influence how often somebody wins - it's still random.

IKnowIAmButWhatAreYou · 26/04/2015 13:52

We had 5 numbers at work & it got us £1700 (between 9).

It hammers home how the odds are stacked against a really big win.

BabeRuthless · 26/04/2015 18:38

I've worked out that I'm way up on the year. I've had a couple of £25 wins and an £80 one which came two days before payday (cue much whooping and hollering) You definitely get less for 5 numbers and 5 numbers and the bonus ball. It's a bit out of order that the prizes vary so much from week to week. Wasn't there one week where 4 numbers won you less than £25?

expatinscotland · 26/04/2015 18:44

Haven't played it since the price rose.

OneTwoManyLots · 26/04/2015 18:49

We won £25 yesterday, and had won £25 last week. Won £25 a couple of months ago too.

I'm working my way up to the jackpot.Grin

Shakey1500 · 26/04/2015 18:51

£25 on last nights lotto. First one for a while though. Last year got 4 numbers and £175 [shocked] still haven't figured out why it was so high.
