to think this is really bad service?

So I order some skincare products from the USA that are not available in the UK.

I ordered them a week ago and nothing has arrived yet, of course I hadn't expected it to but I thought I'd send an email to get a tracking code.

They replied saying they had only sent it out today and there was zero apology.

I paid straight away for it, I don't expect to firstly have to chase them up for a tracking code AND for it not to have even been sent yet after a week.

Am I expecting too much?

No you're right items coming from the US can take ages!! It took two weeks for DD's christening dress to arrive and that was via Neiman Marcus.

Could it have taken a while for the payment to be processed, as it's an international payment? And perhaps they couldn't process the order and dispatch it until the payment was in the bank.

I don't think you're being unreasonable.

I order from the US to Australia a lot. I always get a confirmation email
immediately, plus another one within about 24 hours telling me the goods have been dispatched.

They are blaming it on snow ...

I had a terrible experience ordering from US, never again, no tracking emails, massive extra charges I knew nothing about and order eventually delivered to Canada... Refused a refund because they had sent it and it was courier's fault but it just became too difficult to follow up across the Atlantic and ended up having towrite ooff a lot off money.

I think that's pretty poor. DW orders lots of stuff from various other countries and nowadays the service is usually swift and she's kept updated all the time.

Not sure where they are in America, but I have some friends out there who are posting on Facebook about snow and it's bad. It's possible that they are telling the truth about the snow, although they should have sent you an email to say they had been delayed.
