To take the cat's dietary supplements?

I bought my elderly cat some arthritis supplements from the vets as I figured she might need them. They were quite dear.

However, she doesn't like them and refuses to have anything to do with them Hmm

I also caught her running around a few days ago, so I don't think her joints are actually bothering her.

These supplements are just sitting in the cupboard and I do have creaky knees, so do you think it would be reasonable for me to take them instead?

Cats need Glycosamine hydrochloride humans need Glycosamine sulphate you can take them, but they probably won't do anything as the active ingredient is not bioavailable to you.

I've always wondered if I can use the spot-on flea treatment, one drop on the back of your neck and no insects bite you for a month!?!

Also, is there a human equivalent of feliway to calm children down?

Blueskybrightstar · 23/04/2015 21:53

Why the hell not, eh...

Charis1 · 23/04/2015 21:55

I know, just imagine if you could calm children down with one squirt of a spray aimed at them.....if only. it works so well on my cats.

What about a human version of cat repellant? Those UKIP canvassers could do with a squirt.

hiddenhome · 23/04/2015 22:21

Charis1 yes, you can buy a calming herbs plug in at pets at home. It can help calm the whole family. We tried it, but it left an oily residue on the wall next to the plug in.

Was it valerian, hidden?

I know of a couple of vets/vet nurses who have used Frontline for nits. That was yeeeears ago though

Charis1 · 23/04/2015 22:26

what's the human equivalent of catnip? Chocolate?

hiddenhome · 23/04/2015 22:29

Yes, Valerian was in it. I don't know if it worked for us as I was too annoyed about the wall Grin
