Why am I beating myself up so much about this?

I know this sounds silly but I missed an appointment today and the person waited for 20 minutes before giving up. For some reason I forgot to put it in my diary. They were fine about it and we re-arranged, but blimey I feel SOO guilty when this kind of thing happens. I just think I am being so out of order and feel so bad!

It's not the first time it has happened either I am such dur-brain :(((((

I once had a full-scale melt down when I forgot about DD's jabs appointment. It had been rescheduled following my failure to turn up the first time. Blush

Stuff like this happens, and the fact that you are so ashamed indicates that you are a decent, considerate person, even if it is a definite overreaction. There are people who would simply not care that they had put someone out.

Over developed sense of guilt. Runs in our family too, mainly on the girls side though Hmm.
I regularly wake up feeling guilty about late under grad essays from fifteen years ago and other such nonsense! Pisses me off as it is such a waste of mental energy but I guess it keeps me on the straight and narrow too. Just keep reminding yourself that it was an accident and that we are all human. Feck, just remembered my wedding thank yous. Forgot to put stamps on, no-one received them. Horror!Blush

Do you have any sort of calendar thing on your phone? I put everything in my calendar with alerts on it - so one day before it goes beep, one hour before it goes beep. I just couldn't function without my phone beeping at me and reminding me where I should be.

Oh no! But try not to feel bad. The fact that you do means you didnt mean it at all! These things happen occasionally even to really organised people.

Thank you everyone you have made me feel better Smile. I guess one of the reasons why I am annoyed is because I thought I was being very organised of late, but on this occasion I simply didn't put it in my diary straight away and then got distracted so it slipped out of mind completely! I guess the lesson is, put it in the diary straight away.

Don't worry about it, your guilt cancels out the error Wink and sometimes we need these things to happen so we are extra organised in future.
