I'm watching a programme on channel 5 at the moment, My DS ended up in hospital last night and is sleeping on the sofa and DS2 is eating lunch.

A man on the programme was talking into the camera and said 'Same old shit' it wasn't bleeped or muted at all.

AIBU to think that this is not right? Surely there are guidelines they must follow about this sort of thing?

I noticed that too.

FarFromAnyRoad · 21/04/2015 13:12

Wouldn't bother me.

ouryve · 21/04/2015 13:12

So you're watching a program about debt collectors and expecting it to be completely child friendly?

I would have expected it to be cut/bleeped out in the early afternoon on a Tuesday yes.

Oh just seen that it's a prog about debt collectors? I wouldn't put that on when the kids were watching as potentially really upsetting / violence / scary. And, of course, likelihood of arguments with swearing! On those grounds I think YABU.

KatoPotato · 21/04/2015 13:17

You're not watching 'Can't pay, we'll take it away' are you? Bit awful and upsetting to show poorly DC!

WhirlpoolGalaxyM51 · 21/04/2015 13:17

lol @ loads of people able to identify what OP is watching.

channel 5 obviously v popular at this time of afternoon Grin

Feminine · 21/04/2015 13:19

That guy is a really conscientious character.
He was right.
In the situation he spoke of it was "the same old shit"

madreloco · 21/04/2015 13:20

channel 5 is all shit. And its not a kids show

ouryve · 21/04/2015 13:21

I'm listening to Radio 6 Music, Whirlpool

This is handy for quick reference, though. Even the program description mentions violence, so I'd not be clutching pearls at any mild rude words.

I was waiting for Home and Away to come on, though I am partial to the crap films at 3.15 too.

I've found this on More 4 etc. where they reshow evening programmes in the daytime e.g. Gordon Ramsey kitchen nightmare. I have to be careful that DS sticks to agreed channels to browse, not just flicking through to see what he comes across.

WhirlpoolGalaxyM51 · 21/04/2015 13:24

It wasn't a slight, I'm sitting here MNing Grin

I am boggled that a person could think a program about debt collectors is going to be suitable for young (?) children.., But would then get upset over the word "shit".

Baffling.

KatoPotato · 21/04/2015 13:24

Oh look, that lady is leaving her worldly goods on the street and carrying her newly homeless screaming child into a car, brill.

Wait, did he say SHIT!?

WhirlpoolGalaxyM51 · 21/04/2015 13:25

YY what Kato said basically!

Feminine · 21/04/2015 13:25

It the context it was said, it was quite apt though.
Although l agree that channel 5 makes for lousy TV, the show does help illustrate the "shitty" situation that many renters face (when being evicted)

Through NO fault of their own.

ouryve · 21/04/2015 13:27

It would be like watching ancient episodes of Miami Vice and twitching at the blatant sexism.

WhirlpoolGalaxyM51 · 21/04/2015 13:29

Or saying "OMG the HAIRSTYLES the FASHION the children will be traumatised"
