To report these dog owners

I genuinely don't know if I should report them to the council. We live in a new build terrace so very small gardens, very built up. From my living room (2nd floor rear of property)I can see into 12 gardens. Anyway, the property at the back of our garden has new owners. They have 3 bull mastiffs,3 British Bulldogs and 2 French Bulldogs. They've build a kennel at the back where the mastiffs are housed. The barking is non stop-from 6am to 11pm. It's really getting me down. Why would you buy a property with so many people in such close proximity when you've got that many animals. What can the council do though?

sounds like an awful lot of dogs in a small area. I would take advice from the council - it might even be an RSPCA issue if they are being kept cooped up on a small area - apart from all the noise issues. I hope you manage to get something sorted.

I think under the DDA (and antisocial behaviour provisions) there is a limit to how many dogs you are allowed in a domestic setting. You could check with your dog warden?

Thank you for the replies. I'll look into it this afternoon. They've got a van that says the bullmastiffs are show dogs, they're locked up in the kennel all day. Some of our other neighbours have dogs too which has caused no trouble in the past but if they're out in the garden, all hell breaks loose!

I would report them too OP.

I know a woman like this. She just keeps buying Bulldogs and French Bulldogs. Once she gets a new one one of the old ones is relegated to the kennels and the new one takes pride of place on the sofa.

I've spoken to her about it and she thinks she's doing nothing wrong. In the eyes of the law though she isn't as they're all extremely well taken care of - because they make her money. It's just they don't get much human contact and care in which a dog lover would deem suitable.

What - someone has 8 dogs and you think they might thereby be committing an offence? And they are housed in kennels in the garden? Well I never. Dogs kept in kennels. Whatever will they do next?

OP - they can't be both "locked up in the kennel all day" AND "if they're out in the garden, all hell breaks loose"

I'm sure though that 8 dogs can be noisy and intrusive, and their owners should be doing more to keep them quiet. Have you spoken to them? This should always be your fist step. Second step is to speak to your LA. Have a look at this link too.

Colla-I meant that when my neighbours dog is out in the garden all hell breaks loose. The bullmastiffs locked up can obviously hear/smell it and they react. There's no need to be sarcastic,I never said they were committing an offence, that's why I'm asking for advice as to if there's any point reporting them.

No,I haven't spoken to them, I've reported it to the council this afternoon.
