Not being the sort who spends lots of time carefully choosing and buying exclusive underwear, I tend to buy a load of knickers at one time when the elastic has gone or the material has stretched just a bit too far on the last lot. I am a solid size 16 and have been for years. I recently bought my latest batch of knickers from a well-known high-street supermarket (why waste time going to other shops when I am forced to go there once a week anyway). The size 16s looked huge, so I bought 14s, cheerily convincing myself that I had lost weight. I got home and discovered the size 14s baggily hung off my rear-end in a very unattractive manner. Imagine my disappointment when I realised that I hadn't lost several stone overnight, but the offending undergarments were really huge - much wider than size 16 jeans around the waist!!
Why on earth aren't clothes sizes standard between shops?
Do shops try to make people think that they are a smaller size in their clothes so that you don't shop anywhere else?
