How you feel is more important to how you look

So I had my wedding hair trial today.. the lady did it exactly like the picture I showed her and it was gorgeous from the back.

However… from the back I just felt like I looked like a man…

I found a completely different style I like online that is more shapely for the front view.. I can't afford another hair trail but I am thinking I will go with the gamble.

I know this is no big deal in the grand schemes of life.. however I think if i felt better.. even if I didn't look better.. everything will be better..!

please help me choose !

The herringbone braid looks fab from behind, but most of your wedding photos will be taken from the front (I guess!) so you should go with the look that you think will look best from that angle. I think it's worth the risk of not having a trial. If you start to hate it as it's being styled, you can always ask the hairdresser to switch to a herringbone instead - surely all hairdressers know how to do that.

To be honest I think a lot of brides choose quite stiff hairstyles that look a bit too..........bridal. The French plait looks a bit 80's.

How does your hair look at its best? Loose? Tied up? Go with the style that looks best face on as that's the angle most people will see you from and more importantly it's the angle that the photos will be taken from.

What looks gorgeous on someone else in a magazine wont look the same on you. Have a mind of your own. You are what you are.

I have arrived for an evening reception where the bride had a loose tumbling curls/side do and I spent the whole evening wondering if it was meant to look like that or if it had all fallen out of style.
Which probably says more about me and my fashion knowledge! But do wonder if more structured styles will hold better all day long.

Are you having a veil? If so half up, half down looks nice?

I think the second style you have picked is lovely but the herringbone looks great too. What style is your dress ? Is it strapless ? I think that might make a difference.

You do need to feel good! I abandoned an overly fiddly updo and had my hair down in loose curle.

The only thing about the second style is I think it would get really messy by the endorsement the day... At least if it was my hair it would. How about a big messy bun type thing? Maybe a bit more feminine and more relaxed from the back?

I really like the herringbone plait. You could soften the edges around your face with a few more tendrils/loose curls? I like how its high at the crown too.

But I agree its all going to be about how you feel. Have you anyone who could 'play' around with your hair and come up with something like the second style without splashing out on another trial run with a hairdresser? Or could you attend a model evening for a local college or something? Maybe one of the trainees in a hairstylists?

I like how the plait pulls in at the thickest part but the thinner more 'plait' part just ruins it for me. I like the second one better. If you don't like it so plait like at the end, could you have half up half down with the plait in the half up?

And you don't look like a man but you have to feel 100% in your choice so if you feel unsure because of that, best to do something else.

If like most brides you wear a grand dress that shows off your chest assets, then you won't look like a bloke, honest. They both look great to me, you can't go wrong.

OP, I'm doing my own hair to be bridesmaid at sister's wedding (I'm too tight to pay for a hairdresser!) and aiming for this. It's got plaits, bouffant and is a bit more structured. Actually I'm probably not helping with a decision by offering more options am I...
