Or would I look like a saddo that's been stood up? GrinWink

I have been alone before but on a quiet week day. Something about Saturday night that's making me feel a bit silly about going alone though.

Why not?

WorraLiberty · 18/04/2015 14:54

Not at all.

To be honest, I don't think I've ever noticed how many lone people there are at the cinema.

I'm too busy looking forward to the film and eating popcorn

TheoriginalLEM · 18/04/2015 14:54

I find it odd that people go to the cinema with other people at all, surely you go out with friends to chat etc? rather than sit there watching a film? Go and enjoy yourself.

Do it! If people even notice they won't care.

WouldYouLikeACupOfTeaTooMate · 18/04/2015 14:56

Thanks! I was just feeling a bit silly about it!

On a busy Saturday night I doubt anyone would notice you were alone or care!

I often go to the cinema by myself in the afternoon but once went with DP and DS in the evening but we saw different films as I didn't want to see the film they wanted to and can honestly say I didn't think all eyes were on me.

What film are you planning to see?

tinkytot · 18/04/2015 14:56

Given the choice of going alone or not seeing the film? Which will you choose?

It is not possible for you to know how others see you but who are they and do you care?

If you really want to see the film then go!

PunkrockerGirl · 18/04/2015 14:57

God no, go for it. Nobody will notice/care.
Enjoy!

Child 44. Can't get a sitter for DH to come.

So what you going to see wouldyou ? The friends I've made round here don't share my interests, so I'm usually alone these days. Agree that it seems a bit odd first time Smile

TheoriginalMrsDarcy · 18/04/2015 15:00

Go for it! I sometimes goto the cinema on my own, granted it's during the day (due to childcare issues) and it's great. Buy my ticket, sit where I want, do what I want and then just leave afterwards. Nobody cared if I was on my own or not. I must say that if you go during the day, there's only about 10 people in the cinema. Really quiet and plenty of parking.

Jacana · 18/04/2015 15:01

Sorry, you'd answered while I was typing. Enjoy!

maroonedwithfour · 18/04/2015 15:02

I prefer going on my own. Do it.

CrispyFB · 18/04/2015 15:16

I haven't been to the cinema with anyone for years - if I want to see a film DH and I take it in turns to go whilst the other watches the children.

I'm pretty paranoid about what other people are thinking but nobody has even looked twice at me, and certainly not the cinema staff. I think it's pretty common.

nocoolnamesleft · 18/04/2015 15:49

I happily go to the cinema on my own. Or the theatre. Or for a nice meal out. Pampering me time. Joy.

Enjoy yourself!

ScrambedEggAndToast · 18/04/2015 15:57

Not at all. I went to see 50 Shades of Grey on my own did feel like a bit of a perv GrinGrin

PlanningMyFuture · 18/04/2015 16:02

Go. Enjoy.

flowerygirl · 18/04/2015 16:21

Go for it!

Haha I also went to see 50 Shades by myself ScrambedEggAndToast. I spent most of the film smirking [big grin]

Love going to the cinema by myself and used to do it all the time. Especially enjoy it the rare time I get to go now since having children. Lovely to have the peace and quiet!

Neverknowingly · 18/04/2015 16:42

I love going on my own. Actually I don't really like going with someone else. Never get to go alone these days unfortunately.

Enjoy.

mynewpassion · 18/04/2015 17:11

Done it several times. At first, you are so self-conscious and think everyone is looking at you with pity but once the movie starts, it all goes away.

The downside is that you can't talk to someone immediately after seeing the movie.

mrsdavidbowie · 18/04/2015 17:13

I always go on my own! My one sells wine Grin

Totality22 · 18/04/2015 18:05

If its a busy showing people who are with company could still end up sitting alone so I don't see the problem of going alone!!!

Trills · 18/04/2015 18:12

The only way you might be being unreasonable is if DH is sad to be left alone while you go do something fun without him (and you do that more than your fair share).

Going to the cinema alone is not wrong at all.

DesertIslandPenguin · 18/04/2015 18:13

Going on your own is ace! (And your handbag isn't bulging with all the treats that everyone else wants you to smuggle in for them! And no one wants you to take them to the loo just as the film starts, despite being asked before you go in...)
